  • Thank you for explaining the purpose of the phantom power. I couldn't figure why there was power for a mic on the Amp, but it makes sense for uprights.

  • Overpriced practice amp. Not gigworthy unless you play on Senior citizens Sundays

  • I agree its nice and light, but if you play in a loud band forget it. Turn it up above number 4 and the cabs cannot cope with it, sounds terrible, and mine has stopped working during a gig, twice!! So whilst they are light, and look good, the reliability isnt there and if you want power, dont believe they are 500 or 800watts.

  • Just bought a new one in December. Has a noisy master volume and grounding issue on clear neutrik input.

  • I have and like it. I've also used it going through the TECH 21 VT Bass Deluxe Sans Amp running into the effects in just using the power section, and that sounds good, too. Everything flat except a slight tweak on by active bass tone and pickup knobs to change sounds without even needing to touch the tone on the amp or Sans Amp.

  • Thanks for the great review. I ended up getting a Aguilar TH 700. One feature I like better with the TH is that it has two speakon cable ports allowing me to hook up to 2 speakers at once without daisey chaining. Thx agaon!

  • Wait, so can you turn the preamp mix so that it’s just the tubes? I’m not sure, I got a little confused.

  • Hallo Clay's Bass Lessons…. I'm considering buying the MB Little Mark 800 Tube.
I have a standard 8 ohm Markbass 410HR speaker. A Markbass Standard 151HR with 8 ohms will be added later. Does this combination match in terms of performance? And what is the best way to connect the speakers? I mostly play rock and heavy metal music….. Greetings Joseph

  • I just bought this amp pretty much new off of Craigslist yesterday after watching your video and I love it. It's super versatile and gives me the nice mids for the punchy tone I like. It reminds me of a much much lighter version of the Ampeg SVT-3 Pro I had for a while, the only thing I preferred on the SVT was the like 10 band (I think) eq sliders

  • I just bought one of these (used on reverb) and everything was running smoothly until I went to record. I usually use the DI out on the backs of my amps (post EQ) for convenience sake, and it seems like I have absolutely no audio coming from the DI. I would hate to resort to buying a bass driver DI box or something considering I just dropped a paycheck on the head itself. Any ideas?

  • Just got one and gigged it same day… my ONLY gripe so far is that it lacks a passive/ active pickup switch.

  • I spent a couple months playing with this amp and I just never could get a sound that I really liked out of it. It's 'high-mid' is at 800Hz and the 'high' is at 10kHz, so that leaves a huge gap right in the middle that's untouched. As a result, every time I would plug in, it just sounded 'dull' and 'flat' to my ears. I got a Vintage D2 to replace it (sweepable mids) and dialed in quite a bit of ~3kHz and my basses sound so much better now! Also ditto with the scratchy volume pot that seems to be common with these. I give it a couple twists back and forth and it seems to be fine. If I were to do it again, I would just opt for the Vintage D2 with the sweepable mids and skip the Tube 800. YMMV.

  • Picked up this bass amp a few few weeks ago. Straight out of the box the master volume pot was scratchy. Gotta be kidding me . The tube? What a joke ! A tiny little, I think 6125 , 1 inch long 3/4 diameter gimmick that made NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL ! Purchased it along with a Markbass 4×10 cabinet. Cabinet is great, love the sound. The head, weak middle.
Ended up purchasing a Fender Rumble 800 head. Matched it up with the Markbass 4×10 cabinet and a perfect match. Tons of power, Great classic Fender tone , full, rich, thick, warm, has all the Sound the Markbass head wishes it had.
Plus all the accoutrements the Markbass does not have.
Check out the Fender Rumble 800. Think you're going to love it.
Plus , go online and read more reviews on the markbass head. You'll be surprised.

  • Completely agree about the mute switch. It should be a separate button. Every time you pull it's basically impossible to not tweak the volume level you're set to… Which you can obviously alter, but when you're on a gig in a dark venue and take a set break then come back then have to adjust again… design flaw for sure.
