I was a gear freak when I was younger, chorus, wah, fuzz, overdrive, delay. My band’s most recent gig was just me and a blues driver and when I listen back to it I like it so much better than how I used to sound. I think you’ve only got a finite amount of attention and if you delegate so much of it to effects it will take away from your focus on actually playing
There is a tendency to become too gear-centric and forget…. that it is really about the player and their creativity.
