  • Hi, I have the same amplifier with a well -audible low frequency buzz and I have heard that they often have such a problem caused by a malfunction of the effect loop, do you know something about it?

  • Wishing I never sold this combo 100 watt beast. Great amazing tone for the 60s-90s rock and hair band stuff and was loud enough to gig at smaller to small medium sized gigs where my vintage modern stack is to loud for and I used this in a guns n roses tribute band I tour with for the very very small venues and for larger venues over 200 ppl I used my full vintage modern 100 watt full stacks x2 but this amp is amazing and get them for pretty cheap

  • Watching a review on an amp I already have haha, but yeah valvestates are good for anything from blues to punk and pop punk to rock and metal those overdrive channels are great

  • I got one of these and came by it FREE!! It was in my neighbors trash so natually i asked him about it and he said "i blew the thing out." I was like "?????" So i grabbed it and immediately i noticed one speaker wire was disconnected.. Plugged it in and BAM!! Sounded fine. Been using it ever since.

  • I replaced the valve in mine with a JJ 12AX7 / ECC83 Gold Pin Vacuum Tube, and that improved the tonal clarity and got rid of the tube hum. I also put a MXR Super Badass Distortion pedal infront of it. It's now a brown-sound monster-rock weapon! Mahogany body guitars with 2 humbuckers sound glorious on this amp! Does anything from ambient to metal.

  • So I agree and I disagree. The newest MG's are terrible, however that model MG you have there sounds superb compared to the newer MG models. I want to hear you do a side by side comparison of these two amps here. Preferably thru the same cab or speaker….. The only thing Marshall did was to remove the tube from the preamp section, but I don't feel they messed with the tone any. Check it out…..

  • If you want that amp to crank loud, pair the head with a 4×12 cabinet. You can buy a used one for under $200

  • Great job capturing the sound of this awesome amp. I don't think they make them like this any more. I got mine in 1997 and will never sell it

  • I still have one from 1998 but a purple limited edition version, it has been a great little amp over the years.

  • those are great amps. I have one . I swapped out the speaker to a eminence legend and get a whole lot more loudness and more brit bite which I asked for when I called the company. I use a boss eq to bump up the input just a little bit and make the guitar sound like the way I want to . oh yeah that IS a tube amp except the output stage has 4 high voltage transistors in place of a tube. oh yeah the transistors are around 50 volts which is high for solid state but it then gives the amp a looootttttt of over head to do it's job as an amp. there's really no distortion coming out from those 4 transistors clean ! remember a car stereo is only 12 volts and very limited . the vs100 has around 4 times the voltage.
