  • This guitar is NOT impervious to humidity changes. I have one in the shop right now that I'm not sure will come back to life. It is my fault for believing the hype but buyer beware, if you go for HPL thinking it will be low maintenance in an arid climate, you're in for disappointment. It is (hopefully not was) a great guitar but if you live in a low humidity area, you need to treat it was you would any other guitar and humidify.

  • Is it just me or does fingerpicking sound rather muted? I just bought the 10E and was extremely disappointed with the volume of the instrument when played unplugged or mic’d up. Excellent tonality but just too wimpy in terms of punch.

  • I wish you’d do a review on the 000x2ae. I’ve heard it’s a HUGE improvement on an already great instrument, yet it wasn’t well-advertised by Martin and seems to be a hidden gem. I believe it was released at the beginning of this year, but have barely seen anything about it online. There’s a lot more “real wood” on it, so it’d be great to hear what you think of the differences. My gut is telling me that in 10 years, people will look back and say it was the best bang for your buck on a Martin (currently $599 through most retailers) but what do I know ????????‍♀️… and I’m sure others like me are afraid to pull the trigger until they see a pro like you go over it.

  • Bought one the bow on the neck was insane so I sent it in to get setup and hopefully that makes it a bit easier to play because it really sounds great had a gs mini and epi dr500mce before i settled on this, this sounds like what an acoustic guitar aounds like in my head good bass a bit scooped and "woody". Gsmini is great too but Im 6'3" 260 and have big hands it felt like a toy, the epi was discontinued and a floor model it was buzzing like crazy and the tuners felt crusty but it sounded HUGE aside from the bow and resulting high action this guitar sounded and felt right. Plus the hpl makes maintenace similar to that of an electric which is my main instrument.

  • I purchased a 2019 000X1AE for $499 a few months ago. I also have a Taylor and a Takamine. The Martin blows them away as far as playability. It's the perfect couch guitar. I've played mine 3 or 4 times a week since I purchased it and every time I check the tuning, it's still in tune. I can hardly believe it. And I play it hard. Still stays in tune. My only beef is the lows aren't as deep as my Taylor. But that's to be expected because the Taylor is twice the size.
The 1XAE is the best laminate guitar for the price, in my opinion. I still can't believe it's only a $500 guitar when I play it.

  • Seems a lot of money for a guitar that is made of composite materials except the top .

  • It sounds great!  BUT…. I wish Martin would ditch the headstock DECAL for something a little more….  I know its just an aesthetic issue.
