I changed the Pickups on an old 90's Jackson and there was virtually no difference in tone from the stcok Jackson pickups and the JB i installed. I think those old Jackson pickups were better than the ones they are putting in these new low end models.
upgrading pickups is like removing a blanket from your tone!
