Deluxe probably is cool, but honestly I had a few problems with the Premiere Brighton.
First of all absolutely hand cutting razor sharp frets ????
The second – faulty pickup switch just broke after a week of use, literally a bad batch because few people wrote about it..
Third – it neckdives … ????
Kinda lame even for Indonesia, I had a better QC chinese Jackson for $250 than this $700 fancy "craft". But anyway everythin else was top notch..

D'Angelico guitars were made back in the day as primarily jazz guitars so that Art Deco style you like stems from that. Im a big fan of that style too. It actually reminds me of Eyehategod or Electric Wizard personally. Im sure with a good fuzz it can doom very well.
Still, i love seeing vintage style guitars doing death metal. Danelectro, D'Angelico, Gretsch etc.
With that level of gain, you'd never be able to tell guitars apart in a blind test. It's pure cork sniffing.
Huh. When you went through all the pickup combinations, I thought the one that sounded best was the middle position with just the neck coil-split (bridge not). Maybe it would be a little better with the neck pickup volume turned up a scooch, but there was still a nice mix of complementary tones.

Hell yeah! I snagged one of these bad boys for $900 on a crazy deal. It instantly became my go to chug-machine. Way too fun to slam some riffs on an art deco guitar.

D'Angelico guitars are some of the best-made mass produced guitars in the business (IMO at least). I'd probably give an edge to Yamaha's Revstar and Pacifica lines, but D'Angelico are not far behind. Doesn't hurt that they look majestic AF as well!
