MONO M80 Dual Acoustic and Electric Guitar Gig Bag Review by Sweetwater

Mitch Gallagher presents the MONO M80 Dual Gig Bag. It solves the age-old problem of traveling with both an acoustic and electric guitar. MONO’s M80 gives each of your instruments nearly the same protection that separate cases would, but in a style you can carry one-handed or strap to your back. This self-standing hybrid case conveniently loads instruments from the top and features a rubber bottom sole, ABS impact panels, and a Headlock neck suspension system to protect guitars from drops. A waterproof Sharkskin (animal free) outer shell gives the MONO M80 protection from the elements. After the video, click the link below for even more info on the MONO M80 dual-guitar gig bag.

  • It's a well-made bag, and solve solves the 2-in-1 problem. Lots of storage too! An expensive, but handy gig bag. I decided it was worth the investment in exchange for savings on checked bag fees (in the long run). However, my acoustic guitar didn't survive the first flight : the pouch on the front got pushed up against my guitar which resulted in a large U-shaped crack. I usually try to bring my guitar into the airplane if there is room – but most times, it's too big to fit in overhead compartments and there isn't any space in the "closet" near business class. In these instances, I keep my guitar with me in the airport and "gate check" it when I board the plane – so I leave it at the bottom of the gate with all the strollers, etc. When I arrive at my destination, I pick it back up as I de-plane (before entering the airport). I never had a problem traveling with my guitars this way until I tried this MONO case. Unless you can keep your guitar in the airplane, I wouldn't trust hollow or semi-hollow guitars in this case while flying.

  • hey, nice review! I had some questions before i decide to make a purchase. First, my guitars arent the most expensive, my acoustic and electric are probably around $400~ each. That being said, they add up to be more than this one gig bag. Which is why im questioning to get it still. I heard people are having issues with the material above the headstock ripping? And also the electric guitar spot is a little too tight and people were afraid of their head stock becoming damaged. Let me know if these are real concerns? Or am would I be good to go with purchasing these. Thanks! Also People seem to be having issues with the neck of the electric side being too tight on the mono and the material ripping on the insides above the knobs and tuning pegs. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these types of gig bags, doesnt have to be mono specifically, and which one is worth the money.

  • Does anyone know if this model can also be used to carry two electric guitars? Say a stratocaster and a semi hollow body? I was worried the dual electric case wouldn't have enough room for the semi hollow body

  • Does anyone know if American Airlines would accept that case inside the passenger cabin, or I would have to count it as a bag because of it's width?

  • You guys are nuts. 229 for a gig bag. 329 for the dual gig bag. That is crazy expensive. For a gig bag! I'll stick with the SKB for a hundred bucks less and if I bump a wall and people stare, I'll flip em off or whack em in the head with my hard shell case.

  • I have three Mono gig bags, a single acoustic, a single hollow body electric, and an electric case. They are pricey but you definitely get what you pay for in terms of protection and reliability. I have expensive guitars, and believe that carrying them in a cheap gig bag is the opposite of economy. I will get one of these soon as I have been carrying two Mono bags to my solo gig for years. Great product!!!

  • Excellent, well thought-out case that addresses common needs of a guitarist going to local gigs.  (That covers most of us!)  Cheap-o bags just don't provide adequate protection.  Hard shell cases are great for airplane trips, but difficult and bulky at close-quarter local gigs.  A tiny 'bump' on the wall or going through a doorway causes hard shell cases to make a LOUD "bong" that makes everyone stare at you …. oops.  Soft shell cases are silent when you brush-up against something.  I definitely want this case, and will check-out their single-guitar cases too!  Would like to see the shoulder straps removable though (clip-on).  Everything else is PERFECT!  Good review Mitch, thanks.

  • Uh, I thought a big part of gig bags was to be an affordable way to protect your instrument. Not in this "case"!!
