Pickguard: https://amzn.to/3fLELT6

Despite one setback, the Monoprice Indio turned out to be a great budget guitar and for just a few dollars a new pickguard gives it a total new look.
Watch as I dismantle and re-assemble this tele-styled guitar and have a great instrument for under $100!

  • I've been debating on getting this guitar because I love that tele twang. Does the bridge pickup get close to that real sound? I wondered too about putting locking tuners on the guitar and new pickups. Another video I watched on this guitar said the cavity was too small to swap out for larger Cts pots. I wouldn't want to get into having to route it out, especially since I don’t have one. Lol

  • Decent instruments. I've played many. If you get a good one – i.e., your second one – I'd put it squarely in Squier Bullet territory. I've found the DLX models to be more or less Affinity quality. The big benefit to buying MP, of course (assuming you don't care about resale value), is that you can very often find them for far less than Squiers. Fabulous channel, by the way.

  • If you buy anything from Monoprice when you get your order back in your email do not click on that $10 that they say you qualify for because if you do they going to get you to fill out this form and what you've done you've set up an account that they don't tell you that you going to be billed every month for they got me for $13 a month for a year and my bank would only go back 3 months beware, and these people selling these guitars if they're buying them like they say they are they know it.

  • Great video! I’m not really a fan of the red pick guard, but that’s why they make so many different ones, right? Definitely a great sounding guitar. Thanks for the content.

  • Phenomenal! From New Orleans and having my blonde delivered this weekend. Thank you for showing me how to rewire for fuller sound on it!

  • Yeah – I had fun upgrading mine extensively and for my investment of around $150 it plays and sounds every bit as good as a premium tele….(but with a 4 way switch).

  • One thing I'd add as to the neck prep is to run a big file lightly along the edges of the fretboard to get rid of that sharp falloff and give it a rolled worn in feel.
In my instance before restringing I then polished on a few coats of New Finish car urethane wax on both the neck and fretboard surfaces….gives it a nice semi gloss feel and protects.
Best playing neck I ever had.

  • Nice video…I purchased the exact same guitar a couple of months earlier and replaced the pups with Tex Mex pups and replaced the tuners with locking tuners. Indio guitars are nice out of the box guitars for playing & modding.

  • Was the pick guard a direct replacement with no modifications? I have the Indio strap style guitar, and I had to make significant modifications to my replacement piccard.

  • nice one bro!
looks like its routed for a humbucker on the neck section…bet a mini h/b would sound sweet too!
i had the older style retro classic and sold it…being the routing is larger i think ill get a "new style" retro…..

  • Wish the blonde telecaster had the maple fingerboard neck instead of the rosewood.

  • I recently repainted my Squier Affinity Strat and upgraded it with a loaded pickguard (pearl white with 3 single hot rail pickups), but I want to get a cheap Strat imitation to put the Affinity pickguard and electronics in. I had considered an Idio, but I think I'm gonna go with a Glarry.
