My name is Jens Larsen, Danish Jazz Guitarist, and Educator. The videos on this channel will help you explore and enjoy Jazz. Some of it is how to play jazz guitar, but other videos are more on Music Theory like Jazz Chords or advice on how to practice and learn Jazz, on guitar or any other instrument.
The videos are mostly jazz guitar lessons, but also music theory, analysis of songs and videos on jazz guitars.

Always great material Jens! ????
Kudos Jens, you continually come up with fresh new approaches. ????
get a fuzz pedal and make some jazzy shoegaze please!
These two eye-opening progressions helped me finally understand the "just" of the ii, V, I magic that old-time jazz meisters rave about. Here, you start with a ii7(9,11) leaving out the root and 5th moving to a V7 with an augmented 5th and finally to I6/9, leaving out the root note. (Knowing what notes to omit are what jazz guitar players have to deal with). The ii7(9,11) is a most interesting Charles Ives-ian piled up 5ths chord, which creates open space waiting to get filled (kind of like the 2001 space odesy film theme music opening). Such chords were my favorite when I was in high school, but I could never work them into a musically appealing progression. Here, the ii chord's spaciousness gets filled with a V7 chord getting its extra ump to resolve by an augmented 5th note and finally resolved to a colorful I chord. Hopefully, jazz progressions will make much more logical sence to me from here on out. Thankyou much.
So was that fist one a ii-V-I in c
Beautiful progressions! Especially like the first set. I’ve tried it immediately???? Your content is always very inspiring. Thanks for your effort Jens!
I don’t understand
These are like pedal point turn-arounds. Very useful! Thx!
Finger gymnastics.
I play Classical and folk But I love to listen to. You play jazz. The chords and arpeggios sound good on acoustic also,,
The fourth in the sequence sounded a bit like Holdsworth
Rather hypnotizing when let to repeat a few dozen times. Almost like a song in itself. Play along and throw some double-stops in while he's talking…
Thanks Jens,
Nice
Soothing tunes Jens… love your content!!
Nice chords, and not to forget, many happy returns of the day. ( 50 )????
Subscriber here! These chords are so beautiful, especially with that shimmering Johnny-Smith type reverb. I could see these in ballads, glossy and sweetly evocative. All but one are Chuck Wayne type four notes, (My thing!) but in voicings I don't commonly use. It's time to study them; the splits between the strings are most convincing, sir, adding that trebley, "Air". Thank you once again for concise information and lovely demonstrations!
Sounds like a desirable forgotten memory I'm tryna remember, and if I did, I will fantasize over it until I cry cuz I know it's not real.
