  • I used to have a Rockman XPR rack. It was fantastic. The main thing that comes immediately at my eyes is that in the XPR you had the chance to select two modes that combined clean and distortion sounds. Here you can only have clean or distorted. It was a marvelous sound because you could really hear the mix, clean notes besides the distorted ones. Why didn't they put on this? it's a pity

  • Should the cables coming out of the MXR Rockman be balanced TRS? Both cables or just the output cable? Or will this work with a typical unbalanced patch cable? Question is for this exact setup.

  • I used the x1oo as a preamp and sound shaper for acoustic guitar
I had 5 or 6 x100s the were so fragile
I always loved the sound. Any way I was telling my buddy. Up in Oregon Mike how l wish I could find a good one and if he runs across one pick it up for me. Imagine my surprise when I get a email from Sweetwater telling me that there shipping me one.
Good friends are hard to come by
Friends like Mike are one in a million
    Thanks Mike

  • Even evident in Judas Priest’s Ram It Down! Great demo, bravo MXR, everyone’s gonna get it!

  • So does the CTRL only allow you to toggle Mode and it always cycles from bottom to top? Because if so, that really limits the usefulness of the pedal in a live setting. Would be nice if it toggled between two presets, so you could pivot from cleans to overdrive without needing to tap dance.

  • Damnit! Dunlop keeps getting me. Over 30 years of guitar playing, I've owned every OD pedal under the sun (including a 90s Klon that I still have nightmares about because I traded it away years ago). Then about 6 years ago I got an HX Effects, fell in love with it, and promised myself I'd never blow my money on any more pedals again, and that between the HX, my Stomp, and my real amps that I would always have all the tones I would ever need.

Then MXR dropped the Timmy, and I thought it wouldn't hurt to have 1 mini version of my favorite OD on my board to kick on at any time, no matter what preset I'm on. When I got the HX I had cancelled my waitlist spot for the AnalogMan King of Tone, so when MXR dropped the Duke of Tone I thought, "Well, this is the next best thing so I'll give it a shot since I have just enough room for 1 more mini on my board anyway, and this will be the last pedal. Ever."

Now MXR releases the X100, and my Sweetwater rep, who knows I'm a recovering OD pedal addict, reaches out to see if I want to preorder one. This is entrapment and enabling, and it's bullshit. Screw you, MXR, and screw you, Sweetwater. Now I have to figure out how to make room on my board for the X100 and a tap controller for it before it arrives from Sweetwater in a few weeks.

  • I was looking for one of these with no luck at all. I found Russo Music and signed up for email alerts as to when it would be back in stock. A day later I got the email from them that it was back in stock. Needless to say I hurried and grabbed one up. It's in the mail right now. Fast shipping and excellent, fast responding customer service!!! Check them out!!! Thanks Russo Music

  • But for the fact that I am now determined to approximate (if not duplicate) this tone on my Boss GX-100, I would be totally stoked to buy this pedal. What I like about it is that it doesn’t just sound like the original Rockman X100. It is potentially capable of dishing out the tone that Tom Scholz dialed up during the recording of the second Boston LP, Don’t Look Back. Much as I like the succeeding albums of theirs that featured the Rockman line, that album delivered the tone that was the most consistent yet just as raw as on the Boston debut.

You make mention of how you can also shoot keyboard instruments through it and allude to have a usage 40 years ago of the DX7. During the making of Third Stage, didn’t Tom send his Wurlitzer piano (on which he wrote most of the music from the first album) and a Yamaha CP70 through the Rockman Chorus module?

  • Cheating by using an octave effects pedal in the pedal train. Sorry, not impressed, by deliberate misinformation or misrepresentation. Ya ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
