My 2 Week Experiment with the Boss GX-10 Tone Changed Everything
My 2 week experiment with the Boss GX-10 and the tone – it changed everything – my oh my… So is the Boss GX-10 the same as the GX-100? I looked close – really close! An in depth review with playing.

The GX-100 impressed me greatly at the time and so is the GX-10 a ‘cut back’ version of the GX-100? And does the hardware have the power with it’s processor and memory to even offer anything like the GX-100? These are all questions that should be answered in ANY review and so I do just that – and show and answer a load more too.
Of course the GX-10 is superb value for money, but there are some things missing, like the Bluetooth option and that sort of thing. And can you really handle this powerful Boss GX-10 with just three switches when on-stage?
In this video review I show you the GX-10 unboxing, the inside of the unit and discuss the overall quality, I show the I/O at the back of the effects unit and pedal, I confirm the legal standards, I show the overall operation from above and close up – then move on to the software.
I do show the Tone Studio editor/librarian and connect to tone central to download some pre-sets or ‘live sets’ if you prefer. Lastly I cover the IR software and show it in use – although that is pretty basic.
The playing is really just an example of tone and there is so much more inside this effects processor or modeler as some call them.
I purchased the GX-10 with my own money and the review is entirely financed by me for your pleasure. The review is unbiased and in my opinion shows a good representation of what you get.
NOTE: I did not use ANY amplifier for the playing – it was all direct from the GX-10 from the stereo out… direct in to my recording desk.
I have spent considerable time creating this video entirely at my own expense. Its better than many other units out there for sure. Bought from Gear4music and not Andertons.

Mate the moment you opened the back, i subscribed. I've never seen anyone do this in a review, but its a great idea and as a computer tech i enjoy this immensely!
My Boss GT100 after 6 months of not using it had an issue with all of its parameters encoders. Hope not newer boss multis do not have that Achilles Heel issue.
Сам хоть понял, что сказал? Понабуровил…надо реально и по делу..нам нахер знать какой чип за какой хер отвечает…гребаный малазийский реализьм,мля…????
Kind sir, pray tell us about the foot switch options for this rad multi fx pedal…. Esp the cheaper m vave ones
Thanks for the upload, very informative. I remember that you did a review of the Boss ME90 a little while back. Out of curiosity, how do you think this unit sounds compared to the ME90?
The sounds are great but I struggle with the interface. The much more graphical approach from people like fender is much better with little pedal photos
I used GX-100 exclusively for a couple years and I just downsized to GX-10 for more mobility. All my patches transfered, and it works great.
I had a lot of difficulty with the GX-100 and, by extension, the GX 10 user interface. There's just something about it I couldn't wrap my head around. It's just not for me. I love boss pedals and I love my ME-90 but this is just not for me, I'm afraid.
Great review Tony and Happy New Years ????
Glad to see you still have the WAZA TAE ???? I picked up a used WAZA TAE recently and absolutely love it.
I’m a tube amp guy but always interesting to see what they’re up to with these modeller gadgets ????
thanks Tony! have a great new year… looking forward to more gear deep dives.
Great video Tony ! man you can really play to beat the band dear friend ! Had my feet stomp'in in no time :>) Super cool SG and gold hardware on black is killer.Years ago I bought a Boss GS-10 and use it every time I play.Happy New Year Tony.
Happy New Year !!!
Another great review, and some very flashy guitar mastery. You always offer so much to your audience. I hope they develop their skills in understanding how to approach buying equipment. Thanks !!!!
Yes it is. And it is freaking awesome ❤
Great review! I recently got one, BOSS GX-10 but after attempting a system software upgrade (held write button, mounted to PC by USB cable, copied files and ejected) the unit got stuck, it counted to 50 and stopped and now it won't boot. I've contacted local service providers, but they said the board needs replacement. What would you suggest I do?
Thanks.
ALWAYS enjoy you content sir!! Thank you for your efforts and time putting all these informative videos together!!
I can't decide between the Gx-10 or the new Headrush Flex Prime. Sadly, the Boss does not offer stereo fx return where the headrush does. A small thing, but could be useful if using an external reverb or something.
Thank you for another informative and thorough review. All the best for you and your family in the new year ahead.
The jam at the end was way cool…
Happy New year Tony to you and your Family, What floor unit do you like best I’ve been looking at the GT 1000 and The Line 6 Helix but they are not cheap, but I want something with a quality build an something that won’t be outdated in a year,I value your Opinion greatly and thank you.
Bought one .. I like it , wanted to get rid of my effects pedals
pedo still here !?
Each year they come with a better, faster etc. Pedal! The pedal you use for 18 years ago are just as good! ????
Always brilliant. Thanks so much for all your informative work. I am so glad you're back doing what you do. It's the only channel I can really trust.
Tony, quick word to say thanks for all the effort you put into every review you care to do. Thanks for this one as it provides me with some assurance that I have made the right call in buying a GX10. Thanks again and have a great new year.. ????????????
Entry level models are rarely good value, and this one proves it.
By the time you have paid too much for it and all the accessories to make it useable
i agree with you Tony, save up and wait for a mint used GX100 to become available.
Hope you had a great Christmas.
Thank you for this super detailed review!
You’ve raised the bar and set up a new standard for gear reviews.
Keep up good work!
your curses are Consummately Returned.
thank you tony always can this gx-10 play straight through a amp I'm not familiar with this kind of a system as i play through pedals thank you
great review as usual, thanks!
I got the GX-100 before Christmas, it was on sale US $100 off; $499.99; using it for the effects only in 4CM with tube amps and it's working great.
I started adding up the cost for 5-6 Boss pedals and they'd cost close if not more; not including the pedal board, case, power supply, patch cables,…
Cheers!
looks suspiciously close to a Nux MG30.
Thank for this Video I was thinking of getting one.
Thank you Tony
