  • You gotta give up to Taylor for experimenting and expanding and covering all the bases and then some. Of the big 3, and being the youngest by far, this company is taking leaps and bounds. Much respect

  • Such a pity that Taylor chose the Baggs VTC pickup instead of the K&K pure mini. I'm sure they have a reason, but in terms of amplified sound, big mistake.

  • Not impressed with the sound/tone or the looks/design…Why would they use a Micarta saddle and Tusq nut? Why would they not use bone? treble strings sound plinky and metallic..I would take a mid 80's Taylor dreadnought any day over this new edition.

  • Just to preface, I'm a fan of Taylor guitars and I'm impressed with many of their innovations and nods back to tradition with the launch of the heritage series. This guitar however does nothing to make me think of vintage or heritage inspired guitars either in the look or sound. I think of brands that are doing it well like Waterloo, Iris, Atkin … those to me are heritage inspired guitars. I'm sure these new Taylors sound great and will have fans but Koa as a heritage guitar? …. I'm not sure.

  • Honestly I don’t understand this guitar. It seems as though it was designed by committee. Aesthetics are personal and subjective. I personally do not like the new logo or the overall appearance of this “new” guitar. The choice of Honduran Mahogany for the bridge is jarring to my eye. The tone is good, but not amazing, as far as I can tell from the headphones I’m listening with. The body is huge, again a personal choice . Eliminating Taylor electronics is IMHO a good move. The Baggs is a superior PU and no more plastic appendages on the upper bout. Why didn’t they do bone for the saddle and nut like they did for the bridge pins? Weird choice. Taylor seems to be pumping out so many models it’s all confusing and probably self defeating. I’m a big fan of Taylor and thoroughly enjoy my own Taylor guitars. This one however does nothing for me. It’s just another throw it on the wall and see what sticks approach to guitar marketing.

  • I think this is the first Taylor model I’d consider! I love the more “heritage” styling and appointments, and the microtilt neck is a very cool futureproof feature. I think because Taylor will have this available in large retailers, a lot of players will give it a chance. Gold series- “golden” age model?

  • As a Martin lover/owner I can say that this does sounds really nice. I don't like the look though, but I'm sure a lot of people do. Hopefully it will be a success for them.

  • Oh no here we go…Once again Taylor tries to reinvent themselves..this has always been a trend with them. Remember the Custom Bob Taylor's years ago, then Andy decides to copy the old F Style V bracing raving something better, then start using weird non-tone producing woods. Remember the pallet guita? Its all a big mess. So Taylor seems to just be in search of themselves over the years. That neck design while it maybe best for a reset, does not help tonewise. Sales are down and when I go into music stores I see Taylor trade in's galore and new old models at huge discounts. Now they are selling a Mexican made 50th Anniversary 200 series laminated B/S, plastic inlays guitar for $1500 USD…Huh! When you can buy a Mexican made solid wood Martin for $800-$1200 …Anyway, this guitar just doesn't sound any different, kida thin and lacking that ringing tone found in traditional braced guitars from the top factories. Martin Eastman Larrivee Gibson Yamaha, etc. BTW you guys really missed the point of a review by not speaking of the build, bridgeplate design, tuners, kerfing and the bracing pattern…which looks to be V style or C Style or some new B style ????. I do like the new logo and headstock shape though, I wonder if the inlays are still that faux acrylic plastic stuff on this $4500 USD price.

  • Wait… isn’t this about Taylor guitars? Why is there a Furch banner in the background?

  • 'Better than most of the Taylor's I've played'. Quite funny that Milo admitted, maybe without meaning to that he's not a fan of the usual Taylor tone.

  • It sounds indeed pretty diferent from the other Taylors I heard. Maybe I missed it but is it built with the V-Class bracing?
