  • Hi Phil, thanks for a great review show. In my opinion the most fascinating release here is Max – Beyond Rodan. I found some really interesting material on the net about the band and the original album and how they gave no consent to it. Might have to get hold of this one.

  • Thanks for such a thoughtful review of the album, it's really nice to see you enjoyed the book too! We were never sure if people would get it, but so glad to see that it helped bring you closer to the songs!

  • Love Nektar and saw them when I was at art school back in 1974 in Redruth Regal cinema. I also bought the vinyl of Journey to the Centre of the Eye second hand in Redruth . Amazing days of discovery for sure. A tab in the Ocean was my first one and still my favourite.

  • Good review Phil have to say the Sharks box set is a must, the long lost album is classic I can not understand why Island let them go! when they were making music like that Shame but at least we have this set availiable

  • Back in the 1970’s, I remember seeing the band Sharks on “The Old Grey Whistle Test”. The song that stood out for me was called “Sophistication” – from their album “Jab It In Your Eye”. Lead singer Snips (or was it Mr. Snips?) was quite a good frontman for the band, and Chris Spedding on guitar had all the moves! Shame the band didn’t do go on to greater things.

  • Phil, i think we are living in great times musically, some people think its a way for bands to make money out of fans, but i disagree. Yes there is a plethora of rereleases but its to the benefit of the listener

  • Thank you so much for featuring Arliston's album! I agree it's not quite background music, more like ambience or atmosphere music, it definitely adds something to the mood of a space. Lovely review Phil!

  • Great reviews there. I love Tales of Mystery and Imagination. I have the 2cd with the original and 1987 versions. I think I will get the new version. Softs is my favorite Soft Machine album and the Esoteric edition is great on cd , too. I have also bought the Nektar 2cd version, superb. The new Dream Theater is excellent! Music is the doctor. I've been through a lot with my older son's health, he is a cancer survivor and blind but he is an excellent musician playing different instruments such as the piano, accordion, guitar, bouzouki. He has created his own path. I like all your videos and the way you express your views. Keep it up.

  • I have Blood Harmony (2022) by Larkin Poe and it's really good. I've only heard the new one once so far. My first impression is that the previous one is better but, as you know, repeated listens may change things.

  • I have listened to this new release from Dream Theater multiple times since receiving the 2 CD/Blu-ray deluxe edition and I absolutely luv this release ESPECIALLY the Blu-ray and the Atmos/immersive/surround audio along with the multimedia as it helps tell the story/concept. I really appreciate your thoughts on this release, Phil, and I really suggest that you pick up this deluxe edition…SUPERB!

  • I didn't know you were such a completist for DT Phil, wow! I never really liked them. Thanks for the reviews.

  • Nice! With Dream Theater I had exactly the same reaction????
One question though: is the Alan Parsons without the Orson Wells narrations?

  • Great set of reviews here Mr. Aston, so glad you have not only heard of Wardruna but that you actually like them, another band whom i think are even better than Warduna are a threesome called HEILUNG, they descibe their music as 'amplified history'. Only 3 studio albums, Ofnir (2015), Futha (2019) & Drif (2022). Well worth a listen (headphones a must on first listen).

  • Hi Phil. Do you know if the Alan Parsons Tales 45RPM edition, released later this month, is the same version that came out in 2016 as part of the 40th Anniversary box set? I have that box set, but would be interested in this new 45RPM version if it’s been newly remastered. Thanks for another great video.

  • That Wardruna CD popped through my letterbox today. I love it. I have other CDs by them as well. I first read about Wardruna in The Wire magazine some years back.
