Ovation Elite 1778TX Guitar Review

The most comfortable guitar I have ever played! I compared this to several Ibanez, Martin CXAE, Dean (see review) and Epiphone. Now you gotta like the Ovation sound to like this axe. Like most will tell you, that is where Ovations really shine. The unplugged sound is terrific for an ovation and competes with standard guitars in its price range. The comfort, playability, plugged-in/recording sound, and quality of craftsmanship sold me from the beginning.

I have no complaints and really am enjoying the comfort of this well rounded mid priced guitar.

  • I’ve been playing Ovations for many years. I have two six strings and a 12 string. I love them all!
I’ve been wanting to get a 1778TX for a while now. After watching your video I may just have to go ahead and get one!
That is a beautiful guitar both in tone and cosmetically. I like the plain sound holes without the decoration of leaves that the other Elite models have.
Thank you for the great video, I really appreciate that! ????????????

  • One of my idols the late Glen Campbell used ovation guitars and wrought superb sounds from it of course his skills were a major factor

  • One of the dumbest things people say about Ovations is that they were made to be plugged, totally ignoring the fact that Ovation began in the mid 60's and the first acoustic-electric they made were in the 70s

  • Ovation guitars sound better plugged in, of course it does that is what it is for…OMG that statement drives me nuts.
I hook mine into my Bose Compact system and never had it better IMHO.
I have owned more than my share of great guitars but have always carried a Ovation as a backup and around the campfire, horseback and family outings.
Never failed me, hope your is good to you too.

  • 4:15 if you just wanna hear the goddamn thing and skip all the talking. Why can nobody just shut the hell up and play the guitar for a review?

  • Nice not to have to worry about humidifying a guitar in a country where homes are heated in the winter taking moisture out of the air. I've owned a couple of Ovations and have enjoyed them both. They were good gigging guitars. But nothing provides the ringing overtones of an acoustic guitar better than a well made wooden acoustic guitar.

  • I never liked the Ovation acoustic sound, but they come to life when plugged-in – the best acoustic /electrics imo.

  • I really like my elite tx, but the strings are very close to each other, it's very hard to play arpeggios, my fingers don't fit

  • Thanks for the video. I've had this guitar for a few years now and really enjoy it. I had the similar looking standard tuning version and loved the low action and great sound. I sold that guitar and came to regret it. When looking to replace it, I found this one – tuned in D. I also previously had a Tacoma Thunderhawk baritone, and liked the idea of having the Ovation Elite tuned in D. As I get older I'm unable to sing as high as I used to, so playing/singing a key lower works out well for me.
