Yes, Mr. Sklar, I have heard that bass before. A few hundred times.. Legend!!
Good friend has a beautiful (1983?) Fender Elite II.
Has two split percision pickups. Had a two path preamp and passive tone. Wasn't great so (2013) we replaced the preamp with a pull from a Marcus Miller. Had to maked a new pickguard. Way better tone. No mods and completely reversable. 100% copper foil shielding, that can easily be peeled out. I love it (very heavy though).
