Panhandle Rag – Intermediate & Advanced Guitar Lesson

This intermediate & advanced guitar lesson is on the tune Panhandle Rag and one I think you’re really going to enjoy. I learned this off the Jerry Douglass record “Everything is going to work out fine” he recorded back in the late 80s. My idea was to catch the flavor of his dobro break and apply it to guitar the best I could.
Take your time with this one and try to learn it note for note if you can. This version has a lot of syncopated notes so pay close attention to that and the pick direction. I particularly like the sound of of the B section where he does that neat trill type idea over the D chord. Maybe you can take this to your next jam session or gig and see if your diligent practicing and Jedi skills pay off!

Thanks for the video on Panhandle Rag.. Decided at this late date to learn Panhandle Rag, Steel Guitar Rag, and Sugarfoot Rag on the guitar. Took Dobro lessons 2007-2010 and learned the first two,,but then moved, retired, and moved again and the dobro got sidelined.. now hat I have time and a couple guitar’s I’m going back for some of the stuff I like.
