  • Gee a perfictly good opportunity to hear what Paul had to say only to be stepped on by a noodling guitar player.

  • I love my 84… I'm not a fan of the lead channel… too muddy, and the reverb vanishes, but the clean channel has a lot of headroom and takes a pedal well.

  • Wow, amp bldr royalty! THAT'S real nice! Former student of mine has one with a wider cab. Can't remember if 1 driver in wide cab or 2 drivers. I coveted it .. but now I havva 77 black tolex silver-faced 8" Champ that my tech expertly checked thru & serviced. Has Warehouse Vintage driver in place of original (which I chose 2 keep/just in case)

  • That little amp sound loud!! I had a guitar player last night play with one of these and he was keeping up with my drums.

  • Guitar player was like the drummer in my band when trying to tune. Let Paul talk man, you will get your playing time.

  • Can you believe this guy with the guitar? Rivera speaking and he is freaking noodling away… what a dunce..!

  • Have never played one of these amps or even seen one, but if they were like the only Fender amp models that I had ever bcught new like a 1977 Princeton Amp with 2 10" speakers and two Super Champ XD's with one 10" speaker they all suffered from the crapy quality stock speakers that sucked if you cranked up the amp. The amps are good, but the speakers truly sucked. If you want your amp to sound like 10 times better then check this out : The X2 is about the same amp as the Super Champ XD, but with the added USB option so you can actually downloand and store other voicings of one's choice off the web from Fender. One problem withe XD and the X2 is that the stock speakers only sound decent at low volumes to to being very cheap wimpy speakers. I finally found out that better quality 10" speakers can indeed make this amp actually sound SUPER at not only high volume, but all across the sound spectrum. Now at a nominal cost my 2 Fender Super Champ XD's sound like $1000 amps. I have 2 Super Champ XD amps. Great amps except for the wimpy 10" speaker that they come with so that Fender can cut costs, but at the expense of not producing a truly quality product. I also had picked up a used Fender Bassman 25 amp for $60 some time back. So the speaker in that Fender Bassman 25 amp had great lows and highs. So I removed it and replaced the Fender Super Champ XD speaker with the Fender Bassman 25 amps speaker which has a much larger magnet. It made a world of difference and now the amp is truly SUPER even when dimed. Next I will replace my other Super Champ XD with a Hartke Aluminum Cone 10" speaker from a Hartke 210 cab I have. Will move the other 10" in the cab to the Fender Bassman 25 Amp. The Hartke speakers turned out to be 16 ohm each. I had read that using a 16 ohm speaker instead of the 8 ohm ones would make the amp run cooler, but that the speaker would have less volume by about 3db. WRONG !!!. It acutally produces more volume than the identcal amp with the 8 ohm speaker installed. If you want a great amp upgrade your Super Champs speaker. You won't regret it.

  • Never give a Guitar Player a guitar during an interview. The prices for these amps have more than doubled since I bought mine about 6 years ago. I recently saw one selling for $6000. ???? . $1500 to $2000 seems to be Average.

  • Why are guitar players in these types of scenarios CONSTANTLY noodling while someone is talking? It's incredibly disrespectful to the person speaking. Never ceases to amaze me….

  • Sounds like the cheap Eminence that was the stock speaker not the FORCE EV that was optional

  • If I was Paul, when Nick started talking I would have grabbed his guitar and started playing as loud as the amp would go so he knows how it feels to be trying to say something only to be drowned out by constant loud noodling. Someone mentioned subtitles. Yeah right. All that accomplished was to see MUSIC PLAYING while Paul was trying to talk. I can listen to people play guitar all day long. Hell, I play. But I rarely get the chance to hear a legendary Amp maker talk about one of his creations.

  • Sorry, could barely hear Paul Rivera speak since the dude on the loud, twangy Tele didn't have the courtesy to stop noodling!!! Great little amp! I've owned three and upgraded the speakers in each. Also connected to an ext. spkr., these rigs kill!

  • I have one of these amps from the early 80's, great little amp. I think to be fair, they must have asked Nick to play and he thought he was adding background playing to Paul speaking, he didnt realise the mic level was a lot lower for Pal talking and couldn't be heard when he was playing.

  • I couldn’t hear anything with that guy playing. The original Super Champ is the best guitar amplifier ever made if you play it with a 12” speaker. It can do anything. I had 3 one got stolen. If I could only have one amp that would be it.

  • Hey, don't throw shade on the Super Champ XD. It sounds at least as good s this amp.

  • I love my 83 Super Champ, due for a re-cap . If you own one make sure you get a backup 6C10 tube because these only exist NOS and getting more and more expensive, the other tubes are widely available.

  • Is Paul talking about conspiracy theories and other rubbish or why have you censored him out?
    Love this interview XD

  • I haven't checked any of Norman's videos in a while, and I am really happy to see Norm here, back in the shop and looking good .. Be well Norm !!

  • Paul Rivera is a legend but is overpowered in this interview by Nick.
Interrupting someone while the person is speaking is plain rude. It's more obvious when the person who is constantly being interrupted is an amp genius.

  • What is it with most guitar players that they can't stop playing even when somebody is speaking? And the chap in the video can't even tune his guitar. Horrendous thing.
