  • I had a Bandit 75 back in the 80's. If I am not mistaken, that had a Black Widow speaker in it. And it was LOUD! I usually used the clean channel and ran my pedals through it. Loved it.

  • Thanks for the review. I have owned this amp for 30 years, and just pulled it out for the first time in 20 years. I was not aware that some of the knobs pulled out- what is the purpose of the knobs that pull out ???

  • I just bought a used one at a nearby music shop today. It came with the original 2 button footswitch as well. I’m so happy to finally have a good sounding and reliable amp! Only negative is that it is very LOUD. I don’t gig I only play at home with roommates so I can’t play too loud. I haven’t quite figured out how to get a tight great Metal tone yet (a la “Rust In Peace” era Megadeth) only because it’s a loud amp so I can’t really turn up past 1 or 2 on the volume which might be making it harder to achieve a really tight Metal tone. I know these Peavey amps take pedals great though so maybe I could invest in a Distortion pedal that I like the tone of and use that as my distortion which would also help me control the volume levels. I can say that my Strat sounds beautiful on the clean channel with some reverb from the amp. Great amp, I’m very happy I found it and shouldn’t have to suffer through trying to find a good amp to have.

  • I've got the same amp. I cleaned all the pots and any switch or connector/connection points. It sounds pretty good for a solid state amp. I use it as a pedal platform mainly.

  • Dad passed down his 65 to me after using it to pioneer heavy metal way back then. Lost the switch board so it's stuck in clean, but the amp is so raw it sounds dirty compared to the clean channel on a Roland cube I have. I play a completely different style of music and all the gain is turned to 10 with a fuzz pedel doing most of the work to keep the volume down because it does such a good job at bringing out the crunch and texture of distortion pedals. This thing is a beast, you blow your ear drums just slightly trying to trim the volume down and looking at the damn thing wrong makes the spring shatter the windows of the whole block, very sensitive! My bandits age is probably catching up to it as the volume tends to sometimes taper down on its own from too much gain and it's hard to tell when it's working "right" so I usually never turn her off just to keep the tubes warmed up. The sound profile of it is so unique though and nothing could ever make me want to replace it for a solid state.

  • Thanks for the good demo. Unfortunately, your space is not looking quite professional. Good job otherwise
