Peavey Vypyr Pro 100 Amplifier Review by Sweetwater
Mitch Gallagher presents the Peavey Vypyr Pro 100 combo amp for Guitars and Gear Live 2016. The fully loaded Vypyr Pro 100 packs all the effects you could ask for, as well as an external effects loop for integrating your favorite pedals. Effects include chorus, wah, compression, compression/chorus, flanger, octaver, tremolo, rotary speaker, reverb, and delay with tap tempo. The built-in in tuner helps you keep in tune with a quick glance at your amp. The Vypyr Pro 100 goes into innovative territory by offering instrument models – turn your electric guitar into an acoustic, 12-string, resonator, 7-string, bass, baritone guitar, and more.

Mitch is the best demonstrator ever. Quick, friendly and to the point. I know the temptation had to be there to let lose, grow out the hair, get some skull tattoos, grab some whisky and trash the place. 🙂
I have this and the sanpera pro. It's really an amazing setup that enables a LOT of control and versatility. I also love that it has an effects loop which I can put an EQ or other effects in if needed.. but so far haven't.
Peavey… Can we talk? You've got some great modelling going on but I think your next gen amps could be the hands down winner for a generation with the right implementation.
Gotta laugh at the ain't talking preset at 4:50 Only those with tinnitus would think that sounds anything like Van Halen 1st album.
Kemper products last ten years without changing hardware because all that's needed is one exact match profile for the product to always be relevant. With modeling it's always a "70-80% there is good enough" attitude that holds these companies back. The Vypyr even including any synths or 12 string sims was a joke with the way they can't even track correctly. The modulated delay is also a joke. Good luck getting a dotted 1/8th note Edge delay out of that abomination :).
How does the amp modeling compare to Helix and Mooer?
Should be a 2×12 or 2×10 for the price to get stereo sound.
Nice sound!! When it comes to footswitch, is it OK to use a Fender or does it have to be Peavey to hook it up in the Peavey Vypyr Pro? Thanks
Since it has TransTube built in, can you use it without an amp model and basically be playing a Bandit? In other words, can you get all the TransTube behaviors without using an amp model?
You talk too fast
The buttons are to close together on the pedal. Way to easy to hit the wrong button!
This has almost everything, but is missing two major and obvious functions. It has effects but no way to hear them in stereo, so it needs a stereo output amp. 2nd, as others have mentioned, it needs external output jacks for external speakers, preferably a output jack for each side of the stereo amp output. (left and right).
I want one
They should make a 200w
The high gain sounds muddy as hell. Hope it’s more able than this.
another superb review from the grand master Mitch G. Really enjoyed the review and liked the amp too!
Someone knows if peavey sanpera I vypyr is compatible with vypyr pro 100?
Is it possible to use the sanpera pedal at the same time as a separate stomp box with this amp?
The thing I hate is that, in order to get the "full functionality" of the amp, you'd have to buy the sanperra, which is 50% of the cost of the amp.
So, I play mainly metal but like to experiment with other stuff, do I buy this amp? Yes or No?
Great demo – awesome amp!
WaoO this stuff looks terrific n the tech on board is insane …all this + a tube preamp section !!! Actually it sounds like the future of what might become our good old amps …a kind of hybrid multiFX / amp combo extended with a MIDI pedalboard n a sophisticated PC interface …Im not a big fan of how it sounds (very metallish oriented) even if it is really impressive – it blows away all the its competitors but Im gonna stay with my JC-40 reissue + Blackbird tube preamp + Digitech RP360 multiFX (in the stereo FX loop of the JC) I like it not too much fancy o_O
Botox for guitar amps
vypyr pro or spider v? I own first edition (not vip) of vypyr 30W and for my "bedroom playing style" 🙂 it sounds surprisingly good, especially on high gain, but I feel lack of the advanced delay settings etc. What do You recommend guys?
100 watts and no speaker out for a cab. ..weird
Regardless of how Peavey feels about their 'specially voiced' speaker…they should give the option of running a cab. Missed the boat again, Peavey.
Dear Mitch,
I understand you direct your demos towards the customer groups that are most likely to buy the product. But the guitar pros are concerned with the sound first and foremost, and will easily forgive the lack of detail on bells and whistles.
There's no coverage of clean or lightly overdriven tones. Not to mention that Strats and Teles are very widely (if not predominately) used, and there are no examples whatsoever.
Do yourself a favor, hire Pete Thorn to do this demo justice, and watch this amp sell like ice cream in Sahara, if it's only half as good as you (and Michael Smith of Peavey) suggest.
This thing impressed me. Then I clicked on the link at Sweetwater.com and it's friggin $599??? holy crap that is an insanely good deal.
so its pretty much peavey Revalver 4 in a amp lol
