Philip Sayce Shares His INSANE Pedalboard Setup (2024 UK Tour)

We were incredibly humbled to hang out with @PhilipSayceMusic again during his 2024 UK tour. Spending time with someone so talented and genuine is always an honour, and seeing him in action is nothing short of inspiring.

Philip’s pedalboard is nothing less than legendary, featuring a Vox Clyde McCoy Wah, a vintage 1980s Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer, the Chicago Iron Octavia, the iconic Cesar Diaz Texas Square Face and Texas Ranger, and the lush KR Mega Vibe. We were also thrilled to see him giving our new Cowboy King pedal a whirl during this soundcheck – the tone he pulled out of it was absolutely unreal!

A heartfelt thank you to Philip and his incredible crew for letting us film this special moment. We are so proud to call Philip a friend now – he’s such a gracious and kind human being, and spending time with him is always a joy.

Don’t forget to check back next week for an exclusive video from one of Philip’s soundchecks on this tour – you’re going to love it!

Be sure to check out Philips incredible music online! ⚡️ ???? ‘Hole in your soul’ is the incredible track at the end of this video!

  • That was a brilliant night again. Did he use the cowboy king, or switch back to his Ts9 for the gig? I’ve just ordered one and the Red print ????

  • You know they agonized over which specific unit to bring to him. I can see like 40 green pedals lined up and they’re just whittling them down until they find the “perfect” one to bring him.

  • That is a lot of notes. That bright tone probably cuts right through every brain in that room.

  • Those strings are too new, too light, or the mics are off. Something is too shiny for my ears. Just imo tho.

  • Every Texas idiot wants to be SRV from El Macombo . Big strings , tube screamer, Octavia, all trying to be hendrix thru SRV . Jimi used LIGHT GAUGE STRINGS , AND CAN WRITE GROUND BREAKING LYRICS , AND HALL OF FAME HOOK RIFFS . Johnson, bramhall , sayce, Sheppard are all so boring . No songs , it's bedroom guitar self indulgence with no substance

  • What is his signal chain guitar – to amp. You guys were close and I’m sure you looked at. I would like to think that wouldn’t be an issue since none of us have his chops. Like everyone who chases this tone switching pedals around what goes first what goes into what. I believe that once we the chasing tone guitarists can dial in the sound then we can focus on the playing part not like we haven’t been working on our chops thru the years but the tone is what inspires. I for one will get so frustrated with tone i get uninspired and put it down. Question the tommy cougar amp he has that overdriving I assume I also assume it is the 70 watt head. Also is he going thru the effect loop for his and vibe sound. I know that’s a lot of questions but man and I met him one time at the international guitar festival in Dallas. We didn’t talk about guitar playing until the end of our conversation. We actually talked about losing loved ones. He dedicates Once to his father and to everyone the that has lost loved ones in our lives. I told him that I lost my son and he listened a cried with me gave me a huge hug and was a unique moment in my life. There were people in line to talk to him but he wasn’t rushing thru people. After he signed my shirt I told him by the way I played guitar for 40 yrs and he was like hell yea. I didn’t want to take up anymore of his time to ask the things I thought I was going to talk about. But yea one of the nicest people you will ever meet is Philip Sayce. Bottom line.

  • My two cents here….ive been playing pedals for decades. I’ve had 2 different companies design and market 2 circuits unique to everything available. With that being said, there’s not a turn key pedal manufacturer out there, ie no company makes the best of the best of the best. Sometimes honesty from artists means a lot. My boards are a little of this and a little of that because that’s what I like, not because I get kick backs from them. You can’t tell me that as great as Phillip is, he uses mostly pedal pawn gear. Not saying pedal pawn is top of the line, but there’s no way artists do this. I love jetter, decibelics, Rodenberg, analogman, but as much as I love this pedal here and that pedal there, not one has the best of everything. Great stuff pedal pawn, keep rocking it

  • Great player. Not the cleanest cabling I've ever seen. It's a little "Hum Central" for me. But maybe that's just the secret sauce ????

  • oh wow…that's tone right there. Those of you who haven't heard of Philip get on it.
I just wish he would tour Australia…….

  • Man, that is some loud ass, in your face, incredible tone and just overall sound. God, I love the loudness of his rig! He is amazing! He also seems humble and very polite too. It appears it’s not that common. “I’m a student of music and a student of tone”. Love that.
