PRS SE NF3: The Best Strat-Style Guitar Under $1000? [Demo & Review]

Fender Stratocaster – undoubtedly one of the most iconic guitars in history, but for some players, its sound might lack the fullness or warmth they desire, and the single-coil noise can also be a challenge.
That’s where the PRS SE NF3 comes in. Could this be the perfect “SuperStrat”, on a budget, with a modern twist? As you understand, this guitar isn’t trying to be just like a Stratocaster. • ???? Strat purists, I hear you! ????
Of course, nothing sounds exactly like a Strat, and if that's what you need, the answer is easy! ???? But after 30 years of recording guitar, the PRS SE NF3 caught my attention with its beefier tone and hum-free pickups. I've always dreamt of a Strat-style guitar that delivers fatter tones while keeping some clarity and feel of a single-coil setup.
While I wasn’t aiming for a straight-up Strat sound, this guitar’s promise of versatility really won me over. All the tones in this video were recorded through Dumble-style amps, which brings out a different character than the scooped mids of a Fender Deluxe Reverb.
???? What do you think? Do you prefer classic Strat sounds, or are you open to something different like the PRS SE NF3? Let me know!

  • Great video and sound too! Do you think this guitar handles modern pop punk and punk rock? If so, maple or rosewood?

  • Usual PRS. Absolutely uninteresting. When will PRS realize that the "Mordor" shape of the headstock does not go well with that shape of the body and that a light headstock cannot be used with a dark body and fretboard? How can such a serious manufacturer make such a serious mistake for so long?

  • Nice review! However, agreeing with other commenters on both this and many other videos, it doesn’t have the strat sound. If one wants noiseless strat sounds, I personally think the MojoTone Quiet Coils are good, and there are many others like Lace Sensors, etc that sound a lot closer to a strat than this guitar does. I’m sure it’s nice for what it is, though. PRS makes good guitars in general.

  • Tuning stability is "pretty good" is a bit of a red flag.

Literally could not sound less like a Strat.

  • The NF actually stands for… "Not Fender" ???????? Seriously, though, my favorite guitar brand. I've heard you either love or hate PRS. Well, I love 'em

  • not gonna lie, Amazing guitar but NEVER getting one. That headstock shape is probably the ugluest thing ive ever seen.

  • Kult utseende (selv om fargen på hodet hadde vært finere mørkt som på halsen ????????) og høres flott ut ???????????? Så en budsjettvennlig «Strat» ????????
