  • Please tell what you make with single coile noise after di recording. when i`m trying to setup bass for slap with high frequencies pushed up noise becomes pretty loud. But i can`t hear any noise on albums of artists i listen who uses jazz basses. Thank you

  • Whatโ€™s the best tone and pickup selection/volume for the bass to get the best input to the daw so you can process afterwards? Thanks for all your tips, great channel!

  • hey great video. iv been playing guitar for 17 years and want to get a bass/rig to record with not really play live. being able to skip the amp cost and plug the bass into my interface would be great. also some cheap bass suggestions would be great. a short scale bass seems interesting.

  • How do you get such nice sounding bass di tone? Mine always sound so clanky, lacks bottom end, it's completely unusable to my ears…

  • Awesome video! Would getting a mic pre like this for home recordings go a long way in bettering my sound? Iโ€™m just mostly using software instruments going direct into a Scarlett 2i2

  • I have that exact Mexican J-Bass, except I replaced the white scratch plate with tortoise shell. White is so boring. ???? I love my J-Bass.

  • Dear Sir, I have a question for you.
If I fix guitar to Multi effect processor to guitar amplifier then what is the position that DI box should come???? Between Guitar and Effect processor or Between Amplifier and Effect processor???? Always DI out put is a balance XLR output. But Guitar amplifier has quater inch unbalanced input. So how can we fix DI box directly to Amplifier????? Thanks

  • Thanks Warren! I'm always happy when I find you have a video on a topic I want to learn about. There is a lot of misinformation here on YouTube and you're someone I know I can always trust.

  • Yeah I've got a question! I was going to buy a passive DI for my bass but I was overwhelmed by the price differential low to high. I mean I could understand that with active DIs because there could be all manner of esoteric valve circuitry going on, but passive? Surely it's just a transformer (robots in disguise – sorry , couldn't resist) and a few caps and resistors – nothing that could command a high price, yet I've seen them range from twenty bucks to several hundred. What's the deal????

  • Awesome! Quick question. I have been struggling in studios to get a good sound out of an american musicman sterling. Engineers insists only getting me straight to a radial DI box and into the board. The tone is super mid rangy and weak. I tried to get them to run a DI from an amp, be it an in house svt or my little markbass, and a mic on a 15 cab to no avail. How do you go about recording active basses? and there has to be an abvious difference between the tipical green or blue radial DI box and the BAE, do you think this might be a reason for a weak tone? SHould i just give up on trying to record active bass? Get a preamp DI pedal like an aguilar? thanks

  • All of my instruments plug into a mixer (Cerwin-Vega CVM 1224FX USB, that's a mouthful). The main outs from the mixer go to a Tascam US 2×2 interface and on to the computer and DAW. Would there be any advantage to running a DI box on my bass and guitars as opposed to just plugging straight into the mixer as it had 6 channels with pre's? My bass is a Rick 4001 and my main guitar is a Gibson Flying V and I use Mercuriall Spark as an amp sim on the guitar. Thanks for all of the vids!!!

  • How to record a dry signal guitar and with a guitar amp using a D.I to your DAW? I only have audio interface. I don't know how to connect the D.I to DAW. planning to get a D.I if it doesnt need a mixer. thanks.

  • Recording bass via DI is a fool's game. Would you do that with guitar? Probably not. Then why bass? Only exception if if you're running through an ITB amp sim.

  • Just found your channel, absolutely love it, thank you. How does using an active bass alter your process for di recording?

  • How does this setup with the DMP differ from plugging straight into a 2i2 (bass-2i2-macbook)? Genuinely interested as the latter is how i always record. Am i loosing quality by not using a preamp before my 2i2?

  • Do I see 4 Klark Teknik EQP-KT there in the background ๐Ÿ™‚ So they must be great, if you purchased 4 of them…do you use them for tracking as well or just for mixing ?

  • Why sonically is a guitar more apt to need an amp recording as opposed to Bass where you can just D. I. Just wondering!

  • ok so this was really great information ๐Ÿ™‚ Specially since I am only starting out with Bass and would like to really get the best possible bass recordings for my "Pronsumer" home studio. I am using a Focusrite ISA One Lunchbox as my "DI" but was wondering, once I have printed the take in Cubase 9.5, what would you recommend I use in terms of plugins and the sequence to apply them to me my bass sound professional? I have a Bunch of Waves Plugs, All of Amplitube 4 and the whole studio MAX bundle of TRackS5 by ik Multimedia at my disposal, any suggestions? I would really appreciate any advice to make my mixes kick ass ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Hey Warren, thx for all your stuff !
Same question as Louis…, Do I really need a preamp like your 1073 DMP if I have an Apollo Twin MkII audio interface with excellent preamps (and with UAD bass plugins) ?

  • Hello Warren, I am working on a project with a friend of mine through the internet. We are emailing tracks because we live a few hours away and have little kids. I am trying to use a Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig via DI into my Behringer U-Phoria 404HD interface into Studio One Professional. I canโ€™t quite get the levels right. How many decibels should the interface and the DAW read? Thank you.

  • Hi Warren, great video. What are you thoughts with recording bass through the di but running the bass through your pedals for a sound that you like. Eg I use a Fuzz pedal and a Wah and di record my bass through theses pedals. Is that ok to do?
