  • I have a TRS cable setup into my Axe FX from a few EBMM guitars and like 8 times I couldn’t get any signal….because the top toggle was on the piezo instead of the magnetic pickups. And you’re going through everything, until you notice that.

  • I couldn’t understand why my amp wasn’t working when I plugged straight into it bypassing my pedalboard. Turned out the fx loop was still plugged in

  • You have no idea how many times I've done this stuff with my own gear!
I did sound and lighting for a couple years with the local friend of mine and literally NEVER wired my setup wrong. Whether it was just a Mackie sub on each side with the tower sticking out of it or for the Broome County Arena where I had to fly two PA line arrays, 2 24 channel mixers, 4 snakes with IDENTICAL bandings (thank you store brand blue painters tape and a sharpie!!) a 24 channel 16 monitor setup for my monitor guy, and I can't remember how many power amps and various wireless systems of all pedigree.

But playing on stage? Oh yeah, I've done tons of stuff like this countless times. I didn't have a cabinet wired to One of my tube heads one time. I kept slowly creeping up the volume wondering why the hell there's no noise! It should be taking my head off by now! Look in the back, no speaker wire…. Dumbass. The head was fine. Fortunately.
I'm usually very methodical about setting up. Very deliberate in the way I patch everything together. But all someone has to do is ask me a question where the light Guy starts playing around with his board and I get all sorts of distracted. Hence, no speaker cable.

  • My bass player did this at a gig Friday night. Couldn't figure out why his amp was humming but the bass wasn't working.
Bass wasn't even plugged in………………he can count to four which for a bass player is about 50% of their job so that's something!

  • oh boy I nearly pissed my pants watching this!!!!! we had a gig a couple of years ago and our bassist had absolutely NO SIGNAL at all, he turned his volume dial up, checked his pedal board, turned his amp on and off, checked his pedal board again, after 10- 15 mins, I walked over and saw that his LEAD WASNT EVEN PLUGGED INTO HIS BASS!!! yep, we held up the audience for another 10mins cause we couldnt stop laughing! our poor bassist went more RED than fire truck lol…
