Perry Bean met up with the Melvins’ King Buzzo shortly before his code-violating loud show at Nashville’s sweatiest club, the Exit/In. King Buzz showed his unpretentious yet absolutely effective approach to his inspiring tone.
Although linked to backbreaking Les Pauls since the ’80s, King Buzzo currently tours with a trio of less traditional Electric Guitar Company axes. This all-aluminum, chrome-finished model is slightly heavier than Osborne’s Les Pauls.
This Standard model sports an anodized gold finish and (like the other EGC guitars) is loaded with a Gibson 498T in the bridge and a low-output EGC humbucker in the neck.

Long live the King
I'm dying to know the settings on his Boss Bass Overdrive. Anybody know?
King Buzzo!!!
Straight up godlike style and sound from buzzo
Is there any RR on Buzzo? I cant find it.
I love this dude. I have always loved the Melvins guitar tone.
As a passionate student of of the art of guitar rigs and the relationship between them and people's playing/writing/production (where the technical becomes artistic, and the philosophy side of it), I've been slowly starting to get into and listen to Melvins as a result of seeing these things from Buzz. I've been going down the rabbit hole of how to get the best, unique sounding guitar rig that's also tough as nails, durable, and requires the least amount of maintenance, and I love seeing a guy embracing no tubes, durable guitar materials and unique pieces (15" speakers, etc.). Absolutely love that. If you want a new interesting sound, use new ingredients. Also, who likes having to maintain guitars all the time? I'm all about using metal/carbon fiber bodies and necks, stainless steel frets, these new circuit board printed pickups, etc., and I wish more people would. Cool to see a better known artist showcasing how well they work in a real world application.
I saw them a couple months ago, easily twice the volume of the opening band, it was intense
This episode is equal to the Ben Weinman one !
Never knew his tone was from that Bass O.D., wanna hear his amp with no distortion box
Awesome guitars
He has the body of a toddler too
I have a Peavy Renown 1984 and was a Solid made that sound like a Tube. Is still after it’s age the best sounding amp that’s opened for the best bands we know. Lol
I'd love to get one but they're like 6 grand.
What a great guy Buzz Osborne is. I've watched a couple of interviews with him and he is so down to earth and honest. I have only recently got into the Melvins; what a band.
Aren’t those Hilbish Design? But they say Sunn on them
The real night ????….king buzzo!!!????
Buzz. Too cool. .offering the guitar to try. Man I've never seen that. ..
Dude, I love 15's too!!!!!!!
Buzzoe shood ov mayde aye gewd, stronge faurt ent tawt thatte giy aye lessin
i’m gonna order that boss bass overdrive
Saw Melvins a few years ago. Buzz's rig sounded amazing.
I would love to have Buzz teach me how to play guitar.
Would have been nice to actually hear the effect of each pedal, the pickup switch, and the various speakers.
A company called Tokai made some odd looking alloy guitars in the early 80,s. Don't know what became of them?
i'd get an aluminum guitar too if I could afford it. They're like $3000!
I could never play a guitar with those tiny ass necks my hands are huge
He will let anyone touch his guitar because it's made of metal and he doesn't care
I have the same bass distortion pedal. Love it to death
Buzz!! Just a guy… fuggin awesome…
Buzz. Love that guy.
“Don’t know any guitar player doing it”, this guy I swear. He’s like the kid in jr high who says he was the first to do anything. If it went on longer I bet he would say that he was the first person to plug in a guitar.
Similar to the Travis Bean, I love those. Jerry played one like 1975 to 77
Buzz does whatever he wants. Deal with it.
i wanna smack this guy for not asking what kind of speakers he has in those cabs- they look like they could be JBL's of some sort- which would be a fucking brutal setup. the immediacy of the response to the pick attack of just a high gain tube amp coming out of JBL's is ridiculous. now take a solid state preamp, solid state PA full range power amp- and not to mention an aluminum guitar. the thing most guitarists like about tube amps is that they have whats known as sag- some tube amps have more than others- that preamp might have some depending on the type of gain stages and some compression and warmth. I've played a solid state 300w high gain amp and it made me feel like the amp was faster than my fingers. this is one of the most radically different setups ive ever seen- it would scare 99% of guitarists- its made to pummel- also dude saying tubes have more low end- buzz was cool to say "i like these because they have more thump" instead of i like these because they're the opposite of what you said they are.
This loser Perry is the worst thing in rock
I own a John Veleno and it's awesome fully aluminium and gold plated in gold.
I could be wrong but I always feel an undercurrent of “pay attention to me” with him
Geeked out
Buzz is Legend..
That guy should shave that fucking thing on top of his head
Buzz is so goddamn likable.
Please help! The song playing at the very beginning, I had the 7" close to 30 years ago but I can't remember the title to save my life.
Wonder how much the Melvins have made in their career, having custom amps and guitars made can’t be cheap.
Love how Buzzo just ends the interview immediate. Haahahah. Dudes still talkn.
Buzzo- thanks man.
Shakes his hand. Done.
He’s spot on about the distortion pedals bass overdrive is great
15” speakers are also hard to find! Especially with watts & hz thats good for guitar
This was really fun to watch. Thanks for posting.
