PG’s Perry Bean hung with Blake Ibanez, Chris Whetzel (above left), and Nick Trip of the upstart Texas thrash-metallers during the Nashville stop on the end of their tour promoting the group’s latest album, Nightmare Logic.
Blake Ibanez tours with a Jackson RR1 and a Jackson RRMG Pro, both loaded with Lace Drop & Gain pickups. Both guitars are strung with Ernie Ball Super Slinky (.009–.042) gauge strings.
Chris Whetzel tours with two Dunable R2 basses. Both feature Lace Aluma-P pickups and are strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky (.050–.105) strings.

Nick at the end of his interview: “If you don’t like it, I don’t care.” LOL.
Anyone else see rob Barrett fooling around in the back????
10:36
could have been Blake Jackson playing an Ibanez
ibanez uses jackson
This guy did a good job with the questions on gear and equipment and stuff…it’s more interesting than the bullshit questions you hear like “what age did you start playing” or “who were your biggest influences”.
does anyone know the song at the beginning
If Chuck Schuldiner had a son he would be Blake for sure
22:11 Rob Barrett , Cannibal Corpse with the vip iced tea delivery ????????
Bzzzzz????
i had intercourse with petra gabriel?
i didnt even cum into an american girl how did they do that again(to my knowledge)
The whole time im just thinking about Pat Obriens pedalbord sitting on top of the mesa cabs….
These guys have made the simplest setups and standard tuning sound monstrous. It's all in the skill and the chops, and they've got them in bucketloads. Awesome.
Hope they keep going on Riley would’ve wanted it that way
21:05 the guys in the back
They used to make this custom shop Jackson's with the maple sides with Maple neck
I also want to say I've enjoyed premier guitar for many years formative fun watch and try and get back to playing and practicing guitar motivates me to watch these videos and interviews
What the hell happened to riley gale dude
why this guy only have legs and torso
What song was playing in the beginning ? Of the video
old school sepultura also played in standard E
Shame dude od’d…
Interesting they use the drop and gain but don’t downtune
take a shot every time he says "you know".
It’s cool to see how some of the guys featured on this series don’t have a super high understanding of the gear that they’re playing on, but can still make riffs that punch you in the face. Some bands, like ABR, sound like scientists when they talk about gear. It’s kind of refreshing with a little less understanding
Its funny how E standard has a particularly good sound when it comes to playing old school thrash, black metal and certain kinds of Rick and pop. Other styles like doom and death just sound better downtuned. And almost all blues players tune down toE flat like Jimi Hendrix,Stevie Vaughn etc.
I'm genuinely so mad that I didn't get into Power Trip sooner. Genuinely one of the best and most badass modern metal bands. Just straight up thrash metal from the 80s. Riley Gale was and is an incredible front man.
What’s up with that big Mesa wall behind him ?
The first guy talking about his tiny Marshall while in the back there are 2 full stack Mesas ????
Wow so I’m here listening to this dude talk about his rig and he mentions Mike Dijon from break down, I know Mike and haven’t seen him in years!! Crazy, I remember sitting in mikes apartment and him teaching me and another friend the guitar ???? roadie at one of their shows at CBGB’s way back!! Good shit
Chip guy gonna chip.
