Rig Rundown – Steve Stevens

http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/19538-rig-rundown—billy-idols-steve-stevens Premier Guitar’s Shawn Hammond is on location in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he catches up with Steve Stevens on the Billy Idol 2013 summer tour. Stevens discusses his new signature gear from Knaggs Guitars and Friedman Amplification, as well as his go-to Gibsons, Suhrs, and Roland synth-equipped Godins. We also get the straight story on how he got the ray-gun sound in the original studio version of “Rebel Yell” and see the modified toy ray gun he uses onstage.

  • Premier Guitar, if you’re listening, please fire all these hosts and just hire me man. Every single r.r.d. Is like watching a train just pass by. So many missed opportunities for the fans of both the bands and the show. Hire ME!

  • Awesome, was just learning Rebel Yell for a potential new band.
The solo has a part that is very Robin Trower and Steve mentions him here.

  • Besides his incredible guitar tone….he’s a great mentor in developing and original guitar style, because he’s had a lifetime pattern in taking it all in: from flamenco, to Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, to Steve Howe, Curtis Mayfield….George Benson…EVH of course….so there’s a lot of wisdom there: no one sounds like SS: no one, because he listens and absorbs everything????????????????

  • Steve's the master rock guitar guy, he's so inventive, amazing musician and he's a regular guy, anybody who's been in his position that stays away from alcohol and drugs is a kinda hero to me, there's no way I'd be able to shun all those vices right there on top of he's a wizard with a guitar.

  • Steve is a very talented man. If you gig we all have stuff n gadgets in our rig to use – this is automatic for steve as it is for everyone else who gigs but it is a invaluable thing to be able to adapt it into in different settings. This is the background stuff the audience are not aware of and it happens from the local dj/singer/artist/band right up to the most lavish productions – the setup is the leg work and brains behind the show/production are vital to the finished show.

  • My favorite rig rundown, seen tons. Steve’s always been a bonafide rock n roller, not some imposter. No fake humility or any bullshit. Go Steve!
