In this video I’m taking a look at how the mighty Robben Ford ???? uses the diminished scale in the humble 12 bar blues for some cool outside sounds. He’s an absolute genius when it comes to phrasing and note choice, and has a seemingly endless reservoir of ideas. I’ve broken down a few of his diminished concepts, as well as how he thinks about the harmony and chords to help you navigate the jazzier side of the blues. (Gear used in video down below)

@12:10 note to self for study ????
8:26 1st british invasion! 🙂
love the channel…in the gospel section your R notes are incorrect on some of the tabs…not All A notes. If i misunderstood please correct me..and thank you
As much as i want to know all there is to know and i love this i just cant call this blues. Its important to kniow all options before one can say heres what i want to play and i know what i dont, then you can put 100 percent into what youre doing. My goal is not being the best player its being the most informed having all the options from a deep study of music. Then i want to work with younger musicians and be a George Martin Rick Rubin guy. My dream is being the fat ugly guy in the booth and ive got the greatest face for production arr arr arr

Great video Steve. Thank You. You play well but It seems your string height is ruining your tone when you attack the note. A shame really.
Outstanding video. I'm almost up to understanding most of this. Now to get it under my fingers.
I can’t be Robben, even if working like hell. Nice vid again anyway, ????

Ciao great work you do!
Your lessons are amazing. Very clearly explained, great examples and ideas. I've been a full time touring pro for about 25 years now but I've learned a lot from your videos. Even concepts I feel relatively well versed in I've found you often make me think of things in a different way. Thank you so much for doing what you do how you do it!
Robben Ford, Scott Henderson, you cover my fav guitar players, thank you!
