** I really like this song. I can strongly remember walking the aisle of the Kroger’s (grocery store) near my house and the song comes on the radio and my dad asks me what the band was and I was able to tell him. This was back when I was in 5th grade. As you can see, my love for rock and metal has only grown. Also, I like winds of change, and The Zoo as well as most of their hits, but this is probably the most popular to people my age.

Band = Scorpions
Year = 1984
Album = Love at First Sting
Bassist = Francis Bucholz from 1973-1992
Looks like he uses a pick

Overall this song is pretty easy. The main riffs are real easy. You can play a simplified version that sounds great pretty easily. Some of the nuances are just hard to hear and don’t add a ton to the song to try to nail every time, but are great to make the song more interesting to play/accurate to the original.

Note for playing live: For The Pre Chorus, Francis has his bass at like 1/2 volume, and then raises it for the chorus. You can see him do this in the live videos (particularly for the first pre chorus and chorus)

The bass is hard to hear the exact rhythm (not unusual)

Newer video, but you can hear the bass rhythm better. I deferred to the vids below this since those have Francis

Even though it’s not the “Scorpions”, it has the original bassist (Francis Bucholz), Michael Schenker, and I think the drummer was previously in the band as well. You can see a lot in this video
1:53 you can see him do in the 2nd chorus’ extension before the solo, the 5-3-5

1:44 you can see Francis doing 8th notes for the 2nd Pre Chorus
Then you can see the chorus just as you’d expect it to be
2:27 whole verse that Francis does as 8ths. You can see his fret positioning too
2:58 – Francis does the 5-3-5 in the chorus. a lot of tabs skip over this. at 3:29 you can see him do it in the solo too
5:30 – Francis does the 7 – 0 0 – 3-3 for the main riff dropping an octave instead of keeping the 7. This confirms what I’m hearing
Thanks for watching! Enjoy 🙂

  • This is a general comment on your easy list-could you make a list for absolute beginners, so much slower, much easier? I found Nirvana's Something in the Way a challenge, and that's four slow notes on two strings. That is an example. Slow easy, and not too much variation in the notes in each song would be a good noob list.

  • There's so many different bass covers and tabs out there. I've thrown AI separation and Anthemscore at the song and now I find this cover. Out of everything I found, this cover is the real thing! Every single note bang on, there is only one minor difference I found, the very first 0-0-0 at 0:17 is two long 0s, ie drop the second 0 from the triple. I'm 95% sure that's correct. But thank you for this excellent cover. I'm in awe how some people can just listen to songs and get it right. Without technology, I'd never be able to hear the 5-7 at 0:16, for example. This cover even picked up that Francis Buchholz plucked the E string together with the 7 at 3:03. Excellent work. Well done!

  • I’m old enough to be your grandpa, been playing since 1964 and I have to say, I enjoy the heck out of you. Hearing’s not so good anymore, still playing and learning new things. What you do for me is take the guess work out. Rock on my little brother.

  • Hey brother. I appreciate you doing this for everyone. I have few suggestions that you might like to tackle. I cant find some of these and the others sound wrong. Anyway. Vinnie Vincent, Boyz are gonna rock. While your doing that you will surely be impressed with Vinnie's guitar. It tells you on the album cover there are no petals or synthensizers on this album, straight guitar. Y&T some have never heard of them. Other dedicated fans such as myself have been listening to them since 82. They have 3 of my favorite albums. Black Tiger, Meanstreak, In Rock We Trust. If you could give it a listen. I'm sure you will follow them after. They have several albums and are still touring today. We drive 500 miles to see them when they get that close. Others we met traveled 900 miles. Dave Meneketti is the lead singer, guitar player and writes most of the songs. Ozzy attempted to recruit Dave on several occasions. That alone should be enough to listen to. Anyway. Thanks again.
