After a great deal of speculation and debate the Rory Gallagher auction finally came and went at Bonhams in London, on Thursday 17th October.

The hottest piece, of course, was Rory’s iconic 1961 Fender Stratocaster. In this video, you’ll discover the prices paid, including the buyer’s premium, for all of the lots in the auction.

  • What a pity he was an inveterate drunkard .
He just couldn’t leave the grog .And it killed him .
What a sad end for a talented musician .

My missus said,’ aaahh, Gallagher!, who’d pay for their guitars ???’
Suffice to say she got the wrong one…… i told her Noels guitars wouldnt reach 5 figures.
    Totally different class/ breed/ race/ planet.
As if Phil Collins songsheet is weak compared to Quoasis krapeoke list????????????????

  • I guess it’s a final confirmation of the esteem with which he was held globally, he would have bought a lot of those guitars for peanuts, great that the amp , rangemaster and strat will be displayed together ????????

  • That baseman combo W/4 10’s. Was his main amp.
You can tell Rory choose his guitars by the way the sounded not by brand.
Most of those were junk brands
I’m glad his strat is going in a museum Rory is a nation treasure

  • Never let that guitar out of Ireland. Never. By the way, it might be worthy for the Museum to hire some additional staff.
    Heavily armed additional staff.

  • Is it me or do the similarity in prices for so many items suggest that they may not have met their auction reserve? I mean who would pay £7040 for an Encore Les Paul junior which you would normally expect to pick up for £100 or less? Even if Rory had played it regularly on stage, which he didn't, it still wouldn't be worth the reported price. My hero in the early 70s so I don't like to see this sort of practice.
