SANSAMP KILLER!!! (Sonicake BOOM Ave.) Full Review + DEMO

Gotta be real here. This stupid little multi effects pedal is RAD. And you know how I feel about multi effects pedals. Well, maybe you don’t. Bottom line, I don’t like multi effects pedals. I don’t even really like bass effects pedals. So it’s saying a lot when I say I LOVE this little pedal.

  • Sonicake makes killer stuff! I've got their Black Hammer pedal. High Gain + Boost + Chorus + Delay = "instant guitar hero".

  • The Sansampy/Ampeggy emulation and DI out on this guy is worth it just by itself. The fuzz is meh, the octave is kinda junky. The comp works too hard. It's REALLY cool if your gear is suddenly broke and so are you and you have a gig tonight? You'll be really happy to have this unit.

  • This review made up my mind. Have had it for about 6 months. Excellent sound but the Octave does NOT track well at all.

  • Hi mate, question, so is this enough to go straight to the PA even if it doesn't have cab simulation like the simplifier?

  • Hey I think that any bass pedal should include a built in chorus, and reverb. I would like to see a bass pedal with
Boost/Compressor>Reverb>Chorus>Preamp>Octaver. But as it has an effects loop its ok.
I found on mine that the octaver does a weird modulation effect (like this guy shows in his demo). When onlt Oct1 is selected it jumps between the lower octave to one octave higher and back. 5his is not what an octaver should do. Other than that this is a great pedal. I add a chorus and reverb in the effects loop.
    Bass>Comp>Preamp>Chorus>Reverb>Amp/Pa.

  • Hi, where abouts did you have the compressor set to? I've got this pedal and I've yet to use the comp on it

  • This is more of a sansamp flyrig alternative. I doubt that it can replace everything that the Sansamp fly rig does just because the sound out of those things are so nice.
It's like comparing the Sans amp to the Behringer bass pedal.
Comparable but not quite the same.

  • Can you connect headphones to this as well as audio in for practice or do you need external speakers? All I see is XLR out and 1/4 inch out.

  • I know the Black Hammer is made for a guitar and not bass. But I wish someone would demo what a bass hooked up to that bass d boy would sound like just for fun.

  • I've also got this pedal. I feel exactly the same as the reviewer. Not bad for a one stop gig/practice pedal. A lot of features for a hundred bucks and a steel case 🙂

  • Great review, thanks. I was seriously tempted, but no. If they lost the fuzz and added a tuner, and an octave up, I'd have snapped one up. Would have been the perfect one stop shop, but as it stands I'd still have to have two more separate pedals, which defeats the point.

  • It's sunday, and I'm taking my Sonic cake to church so we can worship the Lord. Thank you for this review, you sold me on it.

  • The gods would smile on you if you did a second review of this playing guitar through it — commenters all over the place say it's fantastic on guitar too.

  • Mine is supposed to be here tomorrow, gig on Sunday. Since it is a church gig i don’t need major effects, but the ability to kick it up for up tempo songs. Currently using a Fender ‘65 Reverb pedal, but planning on using a HOF mini in the future. They don’t want amps because of the small size, so hoping this will cut my stuff carried to minimum. Wanted the Mooer volume pedal, but went with the Sonicake because of price. I will let you know how it shakes out. Recommendation for a Bass mini reverb would be nice, but I will try the HOF mini for now. Thanks for all your reviews.

  • I owned a Tech21 VT bass for a bit. Tried hitting Reverb up for a used one and, well?…..
Pissed. Mos Def want to try one of these.

  • Dan you’re a killer bassist my brother. I’m looking to get a bass because our church only has 1 bassist and 3 guitarists. I figure I can sit in on bass if our regular bassist is unavailable. This is a fantastic option.
