Schecter Nick Johnston | An Updated, Brutally Honest Guitar Review (plus HUGE tone test!)
11 months after buying this Schecter Nick Johnston Diamond Series, I decided it was time to give an update on how it was holding up, some of the drawbacks I have found since last reviewing, and if I would buy it again.
Hopefully this brutally honest review is useful to potential buyers of this guitar. If you like this video, then please be sure to like and subscribe!

Year long reviews are great! Thank you. Made me buy one today.
I just bought a brand new one for $300 off ebay!!!!! Can't wait to get it!!!!!!
nice guitar
I’m sick of hearing about 24 frets they ruin the tone of the neck pickup and make it sound completely screwed up. Leo and co knew what they were doing.
I think most people call the neck pickup "position 5", and the next click (neck and mid) "position 4"
Hey! Could someone tell me how to adjust the action in this guitar. I find the strings too separated from the fretboard for my taste
Still loving mine too, I bought the SSS as well. I play them môre than my Heritage guitars.
What tool comes with it to tighten it up?
I got a 10 way switch installed… game changer!!!!
I hate haych
Brother, if two frets are added, it would force the builder to move the pickups. That neck pickup tone you love so much would be ruined – if you those classic Strat tones from the neck and neck/middle are what one wants. The more you change the Strat formula, the more you stray from "that" tone.
Lotsa options with 24 frets; including Schecter's.
I really want this guitar…i am only scared that I will sell my old beloved Strat after !! 🙂
Is it a heavy weight guitar??? Some peolpe say yes
When you split the humbucker do you lose half the volume or did you set the pickup volume split to mat h volume with the other 2 single coils? If that is the case then when you go full humbucker to you decrease the volume? Thanks and great playing
I recently got the Seafoam Green SSS model in a trade. I replaces the white pickguard with a Balck pearloid HSS pickguard, and transfered over.rhe electronics, but with a DiMarzio AT1 humbucker in the bridge. All said and done, its one of the most versatile guitars i have. I have a Fender American Professional II Strat, and a Gibson Les Paul, and this sits right in the middle and covers both territories very well! If i could only bring 1 guitar to a gig, it would be this.
If you want to add more resistance to how easy the tone knob turns, cut a piece of felt a little smaller than the diameter of the knob itself and poke a hole it in so you can fit it over the post. Push it down so it goes over the nut holding the pot in place and put the knob back on so it sandwiches the felt between the bottom of the tone knob and the nut. I had to do this on a guitar and it works like a charm. Still easy to turn but it won't wander on it's own.
I have the HSS orange one. It's a great guitar if I could keep it tune. Even small bends take me out of tune. I've replaced the locking tuners and string tree. Hopefully replacing the nut will fix the tuning issues. I prefer the neck/middle position for most stuff.
I got that model used. But the previous owner put a hot rails in the neck position. Not that that is bad.Plus there was a Thornbu ler put in the bridge.
Sorry I just saw the video! Cheers!
Good review brother ????????
Maybe its just me, but i get around 3 to 4 Seconds of usable Sustain out of this Thing. (Without any effects). Thats almost nothing. Is there a way to naturally improve the Sustain before i hammer it with compression and overdrive?
this guitar made in indonesia?
The thing is that going for a 24 fret scale would move the neck pickup a little bit, removing it from the best position (in my opinion) the neck pickup can be: exactly below the natural harmonic. I don't know if it really makes that big of a difference, but I love so much more my 21 fret strat neck pickup than my 24 fret one. Call me crazy, but it just sounds better.
