Also I don't know how I missed this but the recent price drop on the Helix also makes this super appealing for new users!
Dude I always tell people, just buy a used pod hd500x for $150. If it breaks who cares. Sounds great. Has an effects loops. Save yourself a grand. Despite what people argue, you can’t tell the difference through a pa on most sounds.
The other thing people don't often mention is the power of this unit if you hook a Variax up to it with the data cable. You can program the Variax just like a stomp. I have a synergy amp that I can put different real-tube modules in. I use MIDI from the Helix to MIDI trigger channel changes on the amp so certain distortions in my Helix presets actually use real tube distortion. Using the four cable method, I have control over effects pre and post amp. I can also control a lot of this from my Shuriken Variax, as well as instant tuning changes. If I want a different real tube distortion, I swap out the modules in the Synergy 50. Technology finally has made it so that I have the perfect system for me.
There all got years to go before they even get close to a real valve l valve amplifier
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE HELIX WORTH EVERY PENNY!
I have the spark mini, the edge the newest of the spark series. POSITIVE GRID IS NOT EVEN CLOSE!!
Positive grid is so limited You can't move pedals around, you only have so many spots You're stuck we can't do mic placement, change Mics I mean nothing like that they could easily make something that you put in a computer like HX edit but they don't they only care about marketing and making money POSITIVE GRID SUPPORT IS ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS!!
Spark too busy marketing things trying to put money in their pocket never giving you everything you want in one amp because then they can't be like a phone company which is what they're more like trying to get you to upgrade every year lol
The Helix has been around for 10 years. STILL THE BEST AND YOU CAN STILL UPGRADE AND YOU GET FREE UPGRADES FOR THE FIRMWARE!! Don't have to upgrade every year. If you need a looper they added a looper You don't have to buy a whole new unit like positive grid.
I just wish that Helix would make something battery-powered. That has all this technology in the amp it would kill the market over everything. I'm sure they would have a way to be able to hook it up to a computer like the HX edit and really edit everything or even make an app like that for Android and Apple.
Good video peace out God bless!!
It’s a solid unit. Take the Neural DSP’s Nano Cortex; it is packed with great tones, but is extremely limited compared to even the HX Stomp (which I use). For my amateur studio, it does it all for me.
that is absolutely not what stranglehold guitar tone sounds like lol
Loved this video! I’ve been debating whether to get a quad cortex or helix floor. I know both are great, but honestly I feel like I’m almost more drawn to the “simplicity” of the helix though I’ve never used it before. I actually like the color visuals as silly as that sounds but it feels more aesthetically pleasing if that makes sense. I’m not super duper smart when it comes to using digital equipment even after playing for nearly 4 decades, but I have used some line 6 before and have liked it. My biggest fear is that the Helix might have a tendency to still sound a bit too digital and have the whole latency issue. Can anyone tell me how the helix floor does with progressive metal and 7 string guitars? Thank you!
What could i use with the helix for practicing at home and jamming with the band for sound? I see so many comments either frfr or pa speaker or other shit its confusing for new players lol
They aren't really going to improve on the Fractal sonically .. They already sound better than every amp that isn't optimised tube wise, cap wise, or bias wise…
Where the improvements will come are in the user interface/ ease of use , not so much the sonics
Still got years to go. Before they even get close to a real valve amp. People who cannot play will appreciate it
I'm using Helix LT since 2016 for film scoring and play at church and still my best axe until now.
I'm a tech geek but when it comes to guitar amps, I don't want to program. I'd rather just plug into an amp. Is this a hassle?
What are you playing @ 2:00?? I wanna learn that!
Helix and helix lt are being heavily discounted just now, is there a new one coming out for 2025 to rival the QC form ?
Say super one more time
They are pretty good sounding but their wet effects and delays get them into the zone mainly, the EJ tone isn't close, it was sterile and digital hinting on compressed fizz….great unit no less though, particularly for boutique modern sounding recording produced solo tones mainly in my ears via this demo.
But how does it sound live in a pa not edited for a YouTube video
Helix is great for effects. I run my hughes and kettner grandmeister tube amp midi and the controls are flawless. The support is great for problems. Tube amp and a Helix works for me. Maybe not for everyone. But still relevant. I will say that these days there are so many great options. Pick what works for you. I choose Helix. What do y'all choose? What a great time to be a guitar pedal. Lol
Helix is Still the best and is one of the oldest ones from the new Generation of Modellers that’s Crazy !
9 years actually.
Next year is a decade anniversary.
This is my dream fx❤❤❤
