  • The aged version costs a bit more because of the special treatment and the aged hardware. The normal versions are a bit cheaper.
I bought myself a Sandberg Nighthawk plus for my birthday and i am absolutely in love with it.
Built like a beast, plays like a dream and looks absolutely stunning. They cost a bit more but imo worth every cent.

  • Great review thanks Johnny , I’m looking at the exact bass with a view to buying so found your review very helpful

  • Great review, mate. Never thought I'd sell my Dingwall, but I might do so to get one of these comfortable bad boys.

  • I have a Sandberg TM 5 UltraLite with all Bartolini electrics and pickups I put in and love it

  • Id like to get a Californian ( German made ) bass , ive got 2 Electra series ones ( Korean made ) ones . I like them alot.
I really do like their neck profile and zero nut .

  • Their basses have definitely grown on me in the last two years, my buddy has bought two of them and absolutely loves them and the light weight of them, and he’s owned a ton of basses

  • Hey Jonny. Much preferred the sound demo approach – usually listen to a couple and then skip ahead, but was great hearing your running commentary of what you’re experiencing that perhaps my iPhone speakers are not accurately replicating the tone of! ????

  • I'll just put this here before watching: Yes, they are worth it.

Edit: Just coming back after the video to say: Told you! 😉

  • I use Delano pickups in both my precision and jazz basses. They are premium pickups so that factors into your tone and the overall quality and price of the instrument.

  • Sounds good but too expensive. I think my Stingray sounds as good. It's a Sterling with Seymour Duncan pup and pre-amp.

  • It will only be a matter of time till I have a Sandberg bass. Maybe a VT with a humbucker in the bridge position. ????
I only see and hear good things about these basses.
But I am not sure if my Ampeg PF500 head will like the active bass signal.

  • It did come across how much you liked that bass. You often had a surprised look, as in "Wow. This thing is amazing!"

  • I was wondering does anyone know the difference between their Blacklabel TT pickups and the Delanos

  • Man your Amp sim tone just does it for me every time, no matter what bass you are running into it.

  • Love the chunky sound and general looks, but the hooked head stock is no for me.. Well out of my price range anyway!!

  • It sounds like every other active jazz bass on the market. Slap the electronics into a budget brand and you'll get the same sound.

I'm not seeing a justification for the price tag.

  • They sound great …, still waiting for my TT to be built unfortunately ……. you should also ask them to loan you a California Central it's a very close sound to a Stingray and would be a good fit for some of the styles you play typically…..

  • Love to see this, love the video <3
I bought a used Sandberg California TT4 passive 2 or 3 years ago and it's the most well-rounded instrument I ever owned. Mine is not aged, has no Delanos, no active preamp, but still plays and sounds fantastic. That's the one I grab for practice or to try stuff, just because it's so comfortable to play.

  • Delano pickups are so awesome I have a set in my p bass that gives it the punch of a p bass and the grind of a music man gives the bass a lot of character been wanting to her a jazz style for awhile now that thing sounds sick!

  • I just got a 2024 Sandberg California TT Goldburst Hardcore Relic with Delano pickups from Chicago Music Exchange and I am loving this bass so much in every way! Plays great, sounds great, feels great, and looks great! The bridge saddle adjustment is very unique and takes a moment to understand. Overall, I’m totally digging it and my band mates have commented in how good it sounds. I’m already planning on getting another one, just because!!

  • The Delano aren't even the best pickups for this bass. The Sandberg Black Labels sound better. Not sure why they sent the one with the Delano.
