  • I must thank you, listened to both these records today and loved them. Great reviews. I hope you do a lot more.

  • You interview two of my favourite musicians! Theo was the main reason why I went to see Soft Machine last year in Toledo (not Ohio, Spain!). They totally blew my mind. What a gig! I don't know that much about the story of the band, but I am glad I got to see them with this line up! Also, of course, Tim and The Butterfly Mind are also absolutely amazing and I am glad that I saw you guys last year in Aylesbury. Pity that I couldn't make it to the previous gigs this year, but (fingers crossed) I will be there in December!

  • Alongside me and Lewis Carroll Tim is Warrington's Greatest Export! Love him to bits and pieces! šŸ™‚

  • Fantastic. I felt like a kindred spirit, listening to your chat with Tim. Great to hear mention of Eno. I'll look forward to listening to Tim's album – butterfly mind seems a good description.
I don't know how I missed the Soft Machine album, so that's a must.

  • Mmmmkay. Ok. Ok.
You know that the best of Birmingham is going to do a final show in July? 50+ years career coming to an end. You could ask your friend Bev and ask Jeff along and have a nice chat and interview and also review your 10 BEST ELO ALBUMS. I would listen. Several times. Love.

  • Listening to Tim Bowness talk about music Is almost as satisfying as listening to His work. And lets not forget about Out host.
This has been Great Andy, i am looking forward for your thoughts on other recent releases. (Geordie Greep released one not long ago, so Maybe you could don that?) anyway Take care.

  • I love the Soft Machine album….I've got the vinyl version with the extra tracks on. I saw them at Bilston on the last tour!

  • Great to see Theo on the channel!!! Have loved his playing for decades …beautiful tone and phrasing!!! I would recommend 'Heart Of The Sun' and 'Secret Island' for anyone wanting to hear earlier Theo. He was kind enough to let me have some of his charts and give me permission to play and record some of his tunes with my band,. He is a composer of great beauty….check out his track 'Shore Thing' from his '2 am' album. It is also often overlooked that he toured alongside Daevid Allen and Bloomdido in Gong for several years too….
He, alongside Eth is a British national treasure.
Hope you can get him on again Andy, and talk about HIS career!!

  • Nice to see there's still truly progressive music being made in 2024. I'm annoyed Soft Machine played basically ONE west coast date on their 2024 NA tour, because I caught them in 2018 and it was awesome. So it's great to hear the band is continuing forward. The last album of Tim's I heard was California, Norfolk, his collaboration with Peter Chilvers. But I love the idea that he's going with shorter songs a la Eno on this one. That forlorn, nostalgic vibe runs through a lot of his work. Tim's airy, feminine singing voice is well suited for it, IMO.

  • Andy, check out Geordie Greep- The New Sound. This record will get plenty of youth into progressive styles of music!

  • Andy, how about doing reaction videos where you havent heard it yet and we get to listen with you?

  • Ahhh thereā€™s actually a Tim interview on here as well,( I thought you were just reviewing a couple of albums). Now Iā€™m tempted to just modify my night and just risk getting behind on deadlines lol

  • Not heard any of Timā€™s stuff before and canā€™t give it a proper listen for some time, but flicked through several tracks and it sounds really interesting. Obviously, because of the nature of just quickly dipping into tracks, it doesnā€™t give you the best context. But my interest was immediately sparked by elements that almost sounded like updates of ā€˜Sulkā€™ period ā€˜Associatesā€™ and perhaps even bands like ā€˜Propagandaā€™, ā€˜808 Stateā€™ and ā€˜En-Tactā€™ period of ā€˜The Shamenā€™. All bands which I would personally consider Prog-adjacent for whatever worth these genre labels are.
Great stuff Andy, and I shall definitely be checking out this album properly when I can grab some appropriate album listening time ????????
