???? Description: Neon Genesis Evangelion is an anime that was released in the mid-90s. While I had never heard of this show prior to the release of this guitar, it appears to have a very strong fan-base around the world so when Fender released this Asuka Inspired, Limited Edition, Japan Exclusive Telecaster the orders flooded in to me from sad USA-based buyers hoping that I could help assist them with getting one into the United States. Only 30 of these guitars were exported officially from Japan, the rest are for sale only by Japanese dealers. Today, we will unboxing, take a deep look at, and review the 2020 Fender Neon Genesis Evangelion Asuka Telecaster MIJ exclusive.
There is also a rather embarrassing typo on at least the first run of these guitars. Serial Number is misspelled “Serial Nunber.” It’s not like Fender Japan doesn’t make guitars that often so it is a rather unfortunate, but funny, over-sight on QCs part. Hopefully, they fix that for the 2nd run!

I am a traditionalist but for some reason these colors work for me.
I absolutely love this guitar.
Its cool and original looking and isnt super obvious its an anime thing, eventhough the show is great. Its even a humbucker tele which is really cool, and it has a great finish. I alwyas thought the necks were black but you can see the wood through in your video, thats cool. Love the pickguard working as the green screen during the audio demo.

Now that I've seen Evangelion, I can come back to correct one detail, especially since you said in this video you'd only seen clips and it was too depressing for you to watch fully. Asuka actually does not have a theme song. That exact same country style theme was played a couple episodes before her introduction during the camping scene on Shinji's return from running away early in the opening episodes. That country music theme song seems to play in any general comical moment here and there, not just Asuka. But still, since there was a country sound used quite often in the series, it still makes sense why they chose a Telecaster for this. But to clarify, that theme played several times before the series episode that even introduced Asuka to the viewer.
Asuka should come to the WWE.

Actually thats not a vinyl on the pickguard, it's made of plexiglass and for printing on clear plexiglass they have to put that white layer (which idk what it's made of) to protect the color they print on the back of the pickguard…
