Robinson Earle is here today to demonstrate and compare the the different sounds from Eastman’s archtop guitars. Both of these guitars are stunningly beautiful and sound amazing. The AR810 tends to have a brighter and crunchier tone while the AR610 is on the warmer side. Either way, both of these guitars sound great and have lots of uses. • Please study before doing a review. The major differences between them are the body depth, such important factor was never mentioned. It’s the size determines the sound, wood is a smaller factor. And because of that he 610 has much thinner sound than 810. Yet you still claim the 610 is warmer because of the mahogany is kinda awful. Moreover these are jazz boxes, not in the acoustic category, find someone who can play the right music with the right tone to do justice for the guitars.

  • I have an AR 610 I use for swing and gypsy jazz. Took some experimenting to find string guage, string type and string height that gave it a sound and playability I was happy with but it's great now! Currently playing nickel bronze 12s which gives a little cutting power that the mahogany back might lack over the maple

  • Do you see youtube reviewers playing jazz on a Martin? No. Wonder why. God forbid we hear jazz on a jazz guitar haha.

  • Sorry, but guitars are discretionary expenditures and I can't see how you would enjoy playing an instrument day after day knowing that it has been assembled by small children's hands under really poor conditions in a totalitarian country like China. I emphasize with all the Chinese citizens that have to live under the oppressive, murderous dictatorship but wasn't it enough for you how the dictatorship has spread lies and deadly pandemics around the globe for decades killing millions of people and not even taking responsibility for this? How can you enjoy playing this guitar?

  • i just don't get the claim that archtops are meant to be louder—the sound so muffled compared to flattops

  • Helpful demo since you get the difference between maple and mahogany. The presenter unfortunately is not at home in the genre this type of guitar has been built for. I'd love to have heard what both these guitars can do when played appropriately. I could never do it myself, it is very very difficult. Matt Munisteri or Julian Lage are masters who can, but hey… 🙂 They might be too busy demoing Eastman's 🙂
