SPARK 40: rock, blues & metal tones
Subscriber NIGEL BOSTOCK donated his old POSITIVE GRID SPARK 40 amp to the channel, and this is my first time trying it. All of the features overwhelmed me, so this first video is a look through some of the Amps and Tones you can get with it.
There will be more videos on this over time, but I hope you enjoy this one.

Excellent video.????????
Great tones and it’s compact great practice amp
Sounds great I have a blackstrar mini amp not as versatile but ok for practice
Hi Jonny, WOW! what a fantastic piece that little amp is. Back in my gigging days it would have been perfect. We liked to keep the sound on stage as quiet as we could then use in ear monitors. I bought a Mesa Boogie studio 20 amp but that was still a bit loud because you had to really "Drive" it to get a good fat tone. In the end I just went direct to the PA via my Zoom multi effects pedal which was cool at the time but these days would leave a bit to be desired. The bass player had no amp at all and the drummer played an electronic kit. This would have been perfect with excellent tones like that, maybe mic'd up or I assume you can DI it. Like this amp a lot.
That is a varied sounding unit very impressive! It''ll probably take you a few months to get through all the sound possibilities! And your friend who gave it to you is a great guy too, how generous is that?
Very Cool, Thankyou Jonny. Another Awesome Interesting Amp Demo/Review. Cool Looking and Sounding Amp. All the Best. Cheers
Every setting on the Spark 40 needs the Noise Gate adjusting as soon as you click on the setting. Eliminates all the buzz.
I like the AC Boost, British 30 and Plexiglas settings on mine. Very good for recording, too.
Ive got a Nux mighty lite for my bedroom works well loads of amps style's and effects even my bass and fretless uke bass sound good at bedroom levels, previously i used a tiny roland cube amp and originally i bought a Marshall 5 watt valve combo got from aunty's catalogue in 73 that still works and sounds lovely at full belt but tooloud for bedroom use ..nice amp Jammie Johnny lol good luck mate ????????????
Some great tones from the PG unit but the buzz was annoying, what was causing it ?, was it the PG ? ????
I have the version 2 of this and use my ipad as the app, downloaded the extra jimmy hendrix apps and have toi say its the best small digital amp ive ever had and every easy to use
What a great practice amp
I really wish we had anything even a 1/16th as good 30 years ago instead of our inspiration killing crapy solid-state little Pevey knockoffs pratice amps of yore
I use the tube drive for some mid push into the AC Boost .. overdrive zero, tone and level around noon … not much at all, but it adds that thing.
Crunchy beast – nice one, Johnny
the nice thing about PG is they all have the same amps and pedals.
i have a PG GO ( cheapest one you can get ) and so i know everything about the signal chains available in any of the units.
tread plate, slo 100, ac boost, thossa are about the only amps i use.
the mesa is totally thought of as a metal amp, but try the cleans on it and you will start to realize how flexible that amp really is….i don't think of it as just a metal amp, same with the slo
Awesome sounds like the high gain stuff, I have never had a Spark amp.. please more Spark 40 videos Keep up the good work Jonny! ????
I like the crunch
