I have big fingers
Thanks for your review on this 50’s precision. I have been looking at a few different CV’s , 70’s Jaguar, 50’s P bass, 60’s precision, Sire P bass, and Glen Hughes Orange Purple Gibson stylish body Precision bass.? My wife liked the fifties Precision best overall. I have been on the fence about these basses. But mostly the P-bass.
I own that bass in white blond and I love it!

I bought one in the sunburst and I am impressed with it. I made mine look more original by adding original Fender chrome pickup and bridge covers. At first I thought they would not fit correctly but they fit perfect with no alterations When you get one new, be sure to take off the clear plastic on the scratchguard, Easy to do, just loosen the srews a bit and peel it off. If you leave the clear plastic on it will yellow the white over time.
nice review, maybe some tunning would have made it a great review
TAKE THE RED CIRCLE STICKER OFF!!!!!!
Do not get rid of the tug bar, that is for your fingers to rest when you use your thumb for general playing.
The stock pickup in this model is one of the best in the Classic Vibe bass lineup.
These are great; a set of flatwounds gives it even a more authentic tone plus easier on the fingers and frets.
live from mom's basement, the man who never had a barbell in his hand. idiot.
NUT QUESTION! I’m having issues finding the right size nut to replace. Any suggestions??
It’s a beautiful bass with great classic deep rich tone but the deal breaker for me is that big fat neck that makes it virtually unplayable! It’s like trying to fret a tree trunk! Such a shame! Fender needs to put a fast skinny neck on this to make it a winner. Otherwise, that neck is way to cumbersome to move your fingers around. Such a shame because this could have been a great budget alternative to Fender’s Sting ???? signature bass.
Is guitar centre the same as guitar center? I can't tell I'm American, I'm unfamiliar with the word centre. I hope not, I hate guitar center. If guitar centre has stuff like that, then it seems like a swell place.
Thinking about getting one these basses for gigging!
Tyler, does your front door face the sea? Is there a regular onshore breeze? Persons of the 21st Century have all been turned into product-whores.
low to 0 tone sounds the best to me, it was pretty much the P bass sound ive been looking for and this bass is half the price of the other fender I was looking at so I definitely will consider, thank you
The Single Coil P-bass is a Secret weapon that has fallen under the radar. It does what everyone with a split coil pbass tries to get with hot pickups but better.
Just listen to that thick cut thru with a pick and tone rolled all the way off..
Lovely bass. made popular by Sting
I wonder if anyone has had problems with humming.
You talk too much
I love that the tone of this bass even comes through nicely on my cellphone's speaker which means it must have some upper mids in its sound that other basses lack. It's the first bass I've heard in a long time that's made me want to buy it.
The problem with this model of bass is that you don’t have many options. You can either get the Squier or a Fender Custom Shop model. Fender Japan also make one with a basswood body but there is no ordinary American Fender equivalent to this. This bass has a great tone and an important place in history. Fender are missing a trick.
