ATTN: While the Amazon link's strings are correct, I believe the lister inadvertently included "Rope Core" in the title. My understanding is that the KF110 are not rope core.
Hello Alan, I have changed the strings of my classical guitar for 0.8 steel strings. I have done a video explaining it and I have recorded a song with it.
I have calculated the tension of electric and classical guitar strings, using 0.8 or 0.9 electric guitar strings, the tension is less, than the normal tension classical guitar strings:

Thank you, this was very useful, I subscribe, greetings.
I think I like them a lot and I haven’t tried them. You don’t hear the plastic sound anymore. Which is the only thing I don’t like on classical guitars.
Just put these on my Cordoba Cadete. Now it blows the Alvarez MPA66 out of the room LOL

Excellent video. I’d never heard of these strings before. I will probably try some out.
I wonder what they’d be like on a steel string acoustic.
$45.00! Holy crap! No truss rod in most classical guitars. Bend the neck, rip the neck joint off. Pull the glued on bridge off. Don’t do it.
You can buy steel-string guitar with wide neck. Why buy classical guitar if you like the sound of steel?
The John Pearse PJ116 aren't exactly the same at the T-I KF116 because the KF are flat wound, and the PJ are round wound
좋은????
i have a classical guitar, and i love the steel string sound, i was wondering if the D'Addario Super Light Gauge Steel Strings 09-45 would work, they have a string tension about 96 pounds, idk if they would work without destroying the guitar
I tried them on a hand-built classical guitar during a 5-day power outage and spent the time working on Bach's Cello Suites and Chopin on my guitar by candlelight. I loved how these strings sing, and the sustain is amazing.
You left out the incredible sustain.
Found your video because I have the same guitar and was curious about steel string options. Just ordered these strings. Thanks for your video
Bit of background: I've been learning how to play on and off for over 10 years and am still a beginner. I've owned many guitars, now I only own this Taylor, thought it would be a good hybrid/compromise; I like a smaller guitar, and don't play enough to have calluses, so the nylon string are nice. Also the wider neck (although not 2") helps my beginner fingers…
So long story short these seem like a nice fit for me 🙂
and I'm so hesitant to tune too high and snap the new strings…they are expensive, $40! Thanks for your response.
how long did it take for tuning to hold when first installed? I bought your suggestion, and it slips a lot
Good video. So instead of getting an expensive Godin with the midi port, I am about to order: A Cort Sunset Nylectric Deluxe ( Great neck with range ) using
Thomastik-Infeld KF110 Flat Wound Classical Guitar Strings so the Roland GR-55GK-BK Guitar Synthesizer pickup will work and I can move the pickup to other instruments. I just wanted to make sure the strings sound good enough for my envisioned application. And you should be a able to bend them better? Another thing about metal strings on a classical even if it has a strong design and truss rod and why it's cattywompus, is the intonation goes way out. And your not going to like it. All to do with the strings intended application. As you discussed about with the tensions. That is why these strings are crucial
Thomastik Infeld strings seem to be remarkable in every version. Your example @8:48 is the selling point here with comfort of playability second. That Taylor looks expensive. I hope you can resolve the intonation issue. I have several cheap guitars and with the right strings they double (at least) their value. Of course you end up paying more for strings than the guitar.
Why not give a comparison to the John Pierce folk?
Alan Roy Hocking
The KR116 strings have Stranded Steel Core Flatwound Bass Strings as opposed to Nylon Core Round Wound Bass Strings.
It's KR116 not KF116.
I have a spare classical and I can't find/afford a good lefty steel string. This sounds like a great solution, even a unique sound.
Thank you for reviewing these strings. I am looking for a brighter sound with my laminate nylon-string guitar (Lucero LC-100). I have D'Addario XT Classical Strings, Hard Tension Standard (XTC46) on right now. Might replace them with Thomastik-Infeld Classical S when they wear out.
