You're a rock star man. Anyone would be lucky to talk you into being in their band.
Excellent ! Tons of creative ideas. Thanks!
Thank you Steve this is really helpful. The note then slide is so much more expressive than even a slide playing legato. Very helpful on how to get started.
Dude knows more than just how to play. He knows how to teach
steve you dat boi
I like to thank you!!! Big help in my musical journey!!
Wow really loved that i was really stuck on were to start you have have given me real hope thanks
aea it actually helped a lot, thank you very much
Great video! I am a keyboardist, but I got a lot out of the info you presented! Much appreciated. These were things I was already doing in my music. Good to know it's "enough" to make my solos interesting.
I like the intervals way. I'm gonna try that!
That melody is beautiful
Hey Steve. Great opening. Love your channel.
That was nice
From the Philippines,Sir……..God Bless you and your way of sharing your talent in guitar playing esp to beginners after 50.????
I'm theoretically challenged. Not in the sense that I can't learn music theory, I just had a hard time relating strange concepts to the sounds my guitar made, I'm naturally lazy, and the same way I had an issue with letters in algebra until I understood variables.
As a primarily 'ear' learner, I have discovered many many relationships on the neck, and can solo in most keys/modes without difficulty as I saw how the patterns move keys/modes just by different frets. Picking 'the next note' is a no-brainer as I've developed relative pitch without even thinking about it, but the hardest thing is actually coming up with new licks to keep it fresh, exciting and most of all, musical. I think I need to spend more time 'seeing' the notes on the neck as I play them, because I have no problem playing horizontally as I know the scale patterns all over the neck.
You're a major help sir….Thank you!!
Great lesson, thank you sir!
Great tone on this video
I'm a classically trained guitarist and somehow it was never taught this intervallic approach. Super simple, which made it incredibly easy to implement right away. I was shocked how much more melodic my playing became literally instantly! I already had decent knowledge of chords and arpeggios, so implementing this along with passing tones was such a breeze. Can't believe no one ever talks about this!!! Thank you so much!!!!
Always a great lesson! Appreciate the lessons very much
Thank you for the clear simple explanations. I have no idea if they will help my playing, there's a lot of work to put this into real practice, but I appreciate understanding this stuff a little more.
Yeah I do exactly that but it just never seems to sound right. What I wouldn’t give to have had some lessons or schooling when I was young.
Loved and appreciate your lesson.really thanks a lot for the videoes.
"think horizontally" unlocked something in my mind. it makes so much sense, and there's so many places to go by doing that.
Hi Steve, great lesson, what effects pedal are you using?
How do I get this sound? I can’t find it anywhere, what pedal do I need?
That’s a sweet Ibanez jem
Great video, concepts are the way go after learning scales/modes of every shape and size. Great job as always!
Great lesson. What is that guitar? It is stunning
This one is so helpful sir.
This is where I’m at right now. I’m in pentatonic purgatory. Thanks Steve for making this video and giving me something I can use and try to break free from this.
im so robotic when i improvise! this helps so much in becoming less speed and robotic and more melodic and emotional!
Beautiful man, thank you!
i only have one life time to play guitar so i prefer to get it wrong most of the time….but i must admit your lesson on pentatonic scales opened my mind to why it sounds better if you know things a bit of the time…
Your vibrato is inspired by Steve vai i think ????
Excellent solo basics demonstration. Thank you.
Exceptional advice that nobody else gives in the open. Thank you
You are a Boss
Can i have the backing track please, its so romantic
This man's incredible ability as an educator transcends guitar technique, and would be equally effective teaching any subject. One of the best school teachers we all never had.
Finnally some one cool difined rpegio
