  • Love this – it’s funny how you end up naturally adjusting your playing technique in order to get the desired synth sounds out when using synth presets or synth pedals. A short-scale with flats is my go to for triggering these sounds but I’ve still got so much to learn about the make-up of different synth sounds and the history / references. Thanks for the video.

  • I tend to use my fretless when doing Synth Bass lines. I add a slight amount of chorus or phase with the MU-TRON for that extra ????????????????????!!! ????????

  • That’s real funk right dere, it’s like cutting one
On a crowded bus and everyone is checking
their shoes to see if they stepped in sh????t.
That’s how funky that is. ????

  • I think you are confused about what a mod wheel does, because what you say in this video is not correct. A mod wheel makes vibrato (pitch or filter or volume) – hence "modulation wheel". A pitch wheel on the other hand sort of does what you're talking about – it's used for pitch bends, and you could do it with that. But the reason you hear that dropping up or down to pitches at the beginning of notes is primarily due to portamento – automatic bending of notes to other notes. Portamento only starts when you hit the second note, and that's what is used to get this effect on a synth. (also 808 kick drums don't bend in pitch ! )
