This guitar model only had a short run in production and is becoming quite rare and you can still pick them up for very little money. Possible the very best cheap guitar in the world.

  • There are no shortcuts to playing the guitar. It takes time and practice no matter what some people tell you. Just do the work and it will pay off.

  • I bought my G-240 from a friend after much hesitation on his part; I understood his reticence. I've had it for about 6-7 years now, same exact model as @molometer . If you're in love with the sound of a Taylor or a Martin and don't have that kinda cash to burn, my humble advice would be to get your hands on a Takamine G Series. The G-240 is great for all skill levels.

It doesn't quite have the bright highs of a Taylor but it's close enough and the bassy tones are incredible. The low action is similar to a Taylor or Martin also. Excellent harmonics

  • I got my G240 for $50 on Craigslist and it is an incredible instrument. I had no idea at the time how good it was, and I am proud to have one. Can anyone verify if they are out of production? God bless.

  • If its good enough for Darius Ruckur its good enough for me. Is the neck chunky ? I like em chunky. Retail or suggested used price ?

  • I picked up a beat up Takamine G230 for $20. It looks terrible but sounds amazing. It’s my first Takamine and I’m surprised at how good it sounds.

  • I bought a Takamine G240 guitar 13 years ago…. the last one available in the instruments shop 🙂
I usually play at my church. The sound is incredible, with a high quality pre-amplifier.

  • I got mine sitting on my lap right now and I definitely agree with you. It’s a nice instrument as you say.. very rich sound!! Easy to play. I was think of buying a Taylor last year but yet If I had to choose between them two I would rather keep playing on my good old tamarind guitar.. that’s why I stopped myself from buying the new one. I just have the g340 model with a white stripe on the edge of the body and on the back. And it lacks the g series tag it only says takamine on the headstock
