Pete ! UFO
Those songs are like high school hit during my days. Early 2000's. I pick up bass inspired from all these GOAT of Rock Music.
Jack Casady is the tone meister. Voodoo Chile live on Electric Ladyland; Jefferson Airplane live album Blessed its Pointed Little Head.
Rob Wright, Nomeansno. No better tone
To call that "shite" is an insult to feces…
Listen to pretend by kings x and you have one of the nastiest bass tones ever recorded.
sounds like FNM bass sound was influential to Fieldy from Korn

I fall in love with bass because of Timmy C

At 0:26 I said "I want to play bass!"
Props to mentioning the criminally underrated bassist Billy who has so many amazing bass tones with his signature Zon bass.
Really nice to see faith no more get the love they deserve. Really cool track by them in “we care a lot” the bass slaps harder than a drunk dad.
never heard of dug pinnick ?
Eddie Jackson on Jet City Woman or on I don't Believe in Love
Aic best bass tone was on jar of flies
Honestly lol. But yea overall that sound was just ????????????
Phil Lesh on the Skull@#$ 1971 live album
fuck yea Mike Dirnt with the proper recognition!
Underrated! Was there a Timmy C part 2 made?! ????
Hmm, plenty of bass out here. But many decades to hear.
Rocket Queen killer bass there. Would by AIC is insanely good.
Glad to see the love for Duff. I was a guitar player when I first heard GnR. At the time bass was something that just chugged and was there to back up the guitar (according to most guitarists). Appetite was the album that changed that for me. Duff was the guy GnR went to for fills. Such an amazing ear for adding just the right thing. Not too much, not too little.
So many Andy Wallace engineered recordings here.
No hand of doom?!! No Lemmy??!!! Incomplete list.
Just an observation but i hear a lot of distortion / fuzz / drive on these tones. I was a rock bassist for more than a decade and never touched an effect during, Clean bass all the way and my Jazz Bass could tackle them all!
duff on "Coma"…^^
Finally some love for Duff and Rocket Queen!
jon stockman's bass tone in the song goliath is the best bass tone ever and its literally not even close at all
Jon Stockman of Karnivool on the track "Goliath"
As Rock goes with no mention of Jack Bruce & Jack Casady is hard to believe
Great video! Huge fan of Duff, great explanation of his technique.
Any thing (tool]
Steve Harris /sea of maddness
check out Doug pinnick from
KINGS X great sound on bass
I’m pretty late to the party on this discussion. But for the record, Muzz Skillings on Time’s Up.
que le commentateur aille ce lavé le cul le meilleur est the ox Entwistle a 100 pour 100 tout le monde est d'accord sur ce point alors qu'il ferme son clapet ( Guy platteau Marseille ?
I think you have bass tome and crazy wrack effects confused.
Billy Sheehans Yamaha BB is effects'ed to the power of 10.
What about bass tone?
Boston, Foreplay bass tone.
Journey, Don't Stop……bass tome.
I think Higher Ground is Flea's best bass line to be honest. I realize that it's a Stevie Wonder song, but it's one of those instances where the cover trumps the original.
Jean Jaques Burnell should be on all lists
It’s not complete without Justin chancellor and Rex brown
Where is Justin
The bass is just so freaking cool.
AAAAAARRRRRRR
I don't want to burn your house down and poke you with a pitchfork, I really dont, but where is Chris Squire playing Tempus Fugit???
Colin Greenwood from Radiohead.
Phil Lynott, Roger Waters and Gene Simmons. You can slam the playing if you want, but their tones are perfect.
Can't argue with any of your picks, some of which I hadn't heard before. Good choices.
Some of my favorites not mentioned:
McCartney on "Paperback Writer", "Taxman", and "A Day in the Life".
Entwhistle on lots of things. lol
John Paul Jones on Zeppelin II. Love it.
Chris Squire, especially on Yes' first two albums. The Yes Album and Drama are highlights as well.
John Wetton on Larks' Tongues in Aspic and Starless and Bible Black. So excellent, especially on the "Larks' Tongues" and "Book of Saturday".
Tony Levin on Thrak is just sublime. Hell, Tony is just sublime.
I never cared for Mr Big but Billy Sheehan may have become my favorite bass player based on the Niacin albums he's played on. His tone is just about perfect. Go listen to Niacin's "Hog Funk" on YouTube to see for yourself.
