My bass of choice since 15 years is a hybrid as well: a Clover Apeiron H.5. An active/passive 5-string Jazz Bass with MM/J pickups. Similar to a Sandberg California TM or a Lakland, but it comes closer to classic Fender and Music Man sounds. It has Delano TheHybrids which nail both the passive Jazz Bass sounds and active StingRay tone. I modded it so I can also use the 2-band EQ when the bridge pickup is split, so I can get into Marcus Miller territory. And with the neck pickup soloed, it sounds very close to a P bass. Many Jazz Basses can do this, that's something many people don't consider. But I still have another P-style bass (Aria Pro II RSB Standard), with flats. Because sometimes, less is more ????
What bass would you use for playing with a singer playing acoustic guitar and a Cahon player?
I really enjoy my Fender FSR PJ bass with Geddy Lee maple neck with block inlays. Best of both worlds, but no active electronics. I van use pedals or the amp tone for that. Thanks James. Great content as usual.
great bass lines, thanks for share it James
You talk to much ????
Just a little feedback I hope you find helpful – Something going on with your video sound – with headphones, it sounds like your mic and/or balance controls are all over the place. Sometimes you're coming out of the middle, the left, the right, all over. it's a bit disconcerting. Content was cool and entertaining, but the sound processing is a little distracting. Cheers!
Great work, you’re a generous person and an excellent teacher, happy I found your channel, appreciated, thanks for your time, talent and passion!
Fender 5-string American made Jazz + Fender 4-string fretless Jazz (Mexican made)
Neil Murray is one of my favourite bass players
Sorry, but this music background is so unnecessary… ????
