  • Say hey, I need a way to boost my drum machine thru my Elite Acoustics 4 channel Digital mixer. It has only 2 trim knobs that I use for my guitar and vocal mic but I need more oomph for the drums and I have zero space on my pedalboard to incorporate a 2 channel compressor. I’m using an RNC 1773 for my vocals but I need more volume for the drums. Could this Xotic Super Clean work well for electronic drums??? Nice video btw, thanks!!!

  • You make everything sound amazing Pete!!! You just sold me this pedal. My Vertex Steel String clean drive, which is awesome, is in need of some repairs and I have to send it back to them to get it fixed. The dilemma is that there is no way I can play without a boosted signal anymore, and I need a new pedal. Guess what I'm getting?????

  • Your clean playing at the beginning was just outstanding. The tone was great, but the playing was even better.

  • Thanks, I am doing the wet dry thing with spark mini on the modulation amp and xotic on the dirty channel

  • What separates the men from the boys? An "even" picking style. Each note in his solo was distinct, nothing "jumped out" as too loud, and no notes were sort of thrown away. Now, you can sort of do that with compression, which is what semi-good players like myself do. Pete does deploy a little compression on this solo, but not a lot. If you use too much, you can hear the compression kick in and clip. As usual, the magic is in his fingers.

  • I honestly don't think those are boost pedals. I hear compansion, a slight compression followed by an EQ'd expansion (then, of course, there is a volume bump). It's an odd way of faking an over driven input, can't quite imagine a scenario where I would want that live or in studio. On snappy higher pitched notes it totally gives itself away when it runs out of headroom for, like, 5-10ms because there's just no way to perfectly set the compression to allow the perfect amount of transient/tone ratio before expansion. If you don't know what that sound is I'm sure it would be fine to you – as a player or just a listener – in a mix or club setting but once you learn to recognize it it would drive you up a fkn wall. Eric Johnson would be like ''NOPE. Paperweight''.

  • Seems like it would pair perfectly with a fender twin, or when I’m playing my Roland jc 40 clean with my jaguar!

  • Pete breaks the high E in a massive bend but no worries, he keeps on keeping on w/o missing a lick.

  • Yes. Yes. Just the video, I needed, right now. I’m glad I revisited it. You’re the best, Pete!

  • I know this video is quite old now but just curious how you stayed in tune after breaking a string on that Floyd Rose? Do you have it blocked or is there some other Pete Thorn magic going on that I need to be privy to? LOL! Great music and great demos!

  • I bought a Super Clean just to check it out. Honestly, it will never leave my board. I have it last in my drive section, before my volume pedal and all modulation, delay, and reverb.
    Amazing pedal.

  • Great Vid! I think when using any treble boosting pedal, on an amp with a presence control becomes redundant because the presence control is essentially a high pass filter but done post effects/amp and looped back into the chain, vs the treble booster doing it at the front end. So I'd simply turn the presence down/off on the amp when using a treble booster. I think treble boosters were made (invented) at a time before a presence feature became standard. My Orange (tube) amp doesn't have a presence feature so I'd absolutely want a good boost pedal, but I'd love to know what Pete thinks in that regard. Cheers! ????

  • Two years too late to comment, but That sounds so great with the high mids boosted.

  • Pete I have fishman classics and I will put the single coil tone on this up against ANY regular single coil…I mean they are that accurate and so clean and pristine LOVE mine I do not have alot of gear just a delay, strymon chorus and a cheap mosky reverb spring emulatoer it was cheap and unbelieveably decent!! Try the Fishmans and split the coils…wow…they outdid themselves!! I also have the EP booster love it on always. Run through the best Marshall in my opinion ever created the JVM 410 JS {Not to be confused with the standard} apples and oranges.

  • Why they didn’t put the DIP switches on the top is beyond me. Most people will velcro these onto a board and it will be a PITA to adjust the EQ, forget doing it on a dark stage

  • Set neck vs bolt on, and single coils,
I’ve noticed bolt on necks & single coils seem to require more tweaks as to tone.

Hard to know unless you show both, but I found I did not need the boost dip switches because I use
SD neck and bridge, and both are about 15, or roughly twice that of a PAF in power. Set neck Yamaha Revstar, the parallel axis in the neck is backed down into the body, but especially above the 12th fret, it’s power yields wonderful creamy Les Paul tones, and if it’s too strong I just switch to parallel coils instead of series. Split is cool, but I think parallel is a better brighter more powerful and useful sound, SD sells a switching pick up mount, 4 sounds per PICK UP no drilling, no pull pots, great if you don’t want to route on an old Gibson for example

  • glad you demo'ed these. seems like i like everything this company makes that i have heard so far. choices choices. thinking two super cleans left & right at the end of the board and the rc booster at the beginning. that rc booster really brings out all the harmonic content and everything out of your guitar before hitting any effects. its like some magic effects company. like you said "a more better button" thats exactly what these fellas make, more better better butter buttons.
