Pino Palladino has enjoyed a prolific career as a session musician: providing Stravinsky-inspired fretless tones on Paul Young’s Wherever I Lay My Hat, contributing to D’Angelo’s landmark album Voodoo, replacing the late John Entwistle in The Who, touring with John Mayer, and his own trio, PSP.
Having built a four-decade career as the ultimate supporting player, join us as we rundown the songs that prove Pino Palladino is a true bass genius.

How about an episode about Sean Malone?
OMG those linesssss!
Tis being a long time since I feel exited about youtube
I watch you guys every day
New bass player here, 1 day in ????
Truly blown away by this, amazing! So inspiring to hear these lines. Also really enjoying all you guys vids. It’s been very helpful. Thanks!!!
I would love to see a deep dive on the basslines of Cake's Gabe Nelson. His lines are so fun and complex, but super catchy.
Love this series, boys! Keep it up!
why do they act, with each bassline, as if they've never heard it before?
I would also be interested seing something about the great Brian Bromberg.
Pino on Jacob Collier's 'Feel' really takes empty space and phrasing to a new level
Hy, guys!
You always talk about Pino but one of his best bass lines was never mentioned by you, Give Blood by Pete Townshend from the album White City! Have you already heard it? If not please listen! Greetings from Barcelona!
Robbie Shakespeare please
Saw him touring with D'Angelo around 10 years ago. During Devil's Pie, I just had to start shouting "Pino! Pino!" My wife was embarrassed. And D always give Pino his flowers during the show. It seems like he won't work with another bassist. I think Voodoo is mostly sampled bass lines put together by D. But it's still a great album, well worth listening to just to catch the Dilla vibe. Don't have to quantize everything. Humanity is where it's at.
Inspired by Pino, I bought a P-Bass and set it up with classic pups and heavy flats – and paper in oil capacitors! I was crazy.
Great feature on this incredible player. You have to look at the top comment on the NIN video ???? … "I played this VERY LOUD on my stereo just 9 months ago and now all my neighbors have kids."
Careful!!! "Good Love Is On The Way" and "Who Did You Think I Was" come from WHERE THE LIGHT IS live in LA (2008) – love you guys!!! ❤????
Leland Sklar pls?
I love Pino on a weird tune called Ekute that he did with Blake Mills recently. Super out there stuff. The groove is just so fun on it.
We need one of this with Paul Bender!! From the mighty Hiatus Kaiyote
Great video guys. I found Pino from the Try album. He has been a bass hero of mine ever since.
Oh, and of course viewers the Nine Inch Nails song is in drop-D!
Thank you SO MUCH for this incredible insider detailed journey through the genius of Mr. Pino Palladino, utmost respect. Especially on Sanctified, beautiful, mysterious, mind-blowing. How did he get the sustain on the harmonic slide? Thanks in advance. P.S. The 2 bars you played with the 5th fret harmonic is not in the notation of Sanctified in your booklet, hmm????
The first time I heard slapping on a fretless was Ken Wild of Seawind in the '70's (the Window of a Child album). Incredible!
Pino is incredible! Great episode guys!
Off the top of my head, I'd love to see a video about:
– Paul Webb (Talk Talk)
– Juan Nelson (Ben Harper and the innocent criminals)
– Prince
– Ryan Martinie (Mudvayne)
His playing in Voodoo was MAD. Send it on is still one of my all time favorites, it hits the soul differently.
Could watch a part 2 , 3, 4……..haha!! Great stuff you guys. I’m a drummer by trade but watch your channel the most! Your enthusiasm is contagious , thanks so so much for all of this!
your hysetrical show has become so boring
He's playing like a sax player, with the fills.
