I like this post! Different scenario not in your studio! Keep on keeping on!
Katana is not a digital modelling amplifier
Can't be bothered hooking up to a computer yet fiddles about with effects loops
Look at Shane all rubbing summer in our face.
All of these are cool amps! Amazing how Line 6 opened a new world for enthusiasts and how more traditional companies followed the success of the Spider amps.
I listened to you and got a second hand mustang v3 whats missing is maybe an eq block, I also hava a katana mk2 head for heavy sounds and mg30dfx to mod its clipping diodes and speaker out jack to connect 12" cabs that it's a must for any good amp sound
I believe you and I bought mustang III.
Hey, I wanted to ask you would you prefer the artist amp over the Blues junior Amp?
I got a Katana for my Grandson as his first amp. I played around with it for a while and was super impressed with it! Personally I've got a ToneMaster Deluxe Reverb and just love it! I got it on sale a couple years back for a good price (still not cheap) so that wasn't a big deal for me. It will never leave my office so I'm really not concerned about the long term reliability. It took me a bit to get it dialed in (with the built-in attenuator) but once I got there I'm 100% happy with my tone.
I had the Mustang III v2 for years. The only issue I had that caused me to sell it to guitar center was it was too big. I needed something for the living room and replaced it with a Micro Cube
If you can include digital modeling pedals, I'd go for Dream 65. I wish Universal Audio had made Matchless modeling pedal tho.
Great vid as always! I have the Fender Deluxe Reverb in blonde as it has the (to my ears anyway) superior already installed firmware and also a 12" Celestion (rather than the more "country" sounding Jensen) and I absolutely love it! Its the best amp I've ever owned as it works for me in my situation circa 2025. Yes, I agree they might be priced a little high. That is a valid point and potential deal-breaker for some. Yes they don't have an effects loop either, but I prefer sending everything in the front anyway, always have.
Not sure about the comment about making it louder though! Its actually a 100 watt amp and the loudest I've had it is on full power setting but volume between 5 and 6 and my ears were ringing after less than a minute!
For years I played and gigged Marshall JCM800's and they are amazing but they would be temperamental and sound very different venue to venue. And do need to be driven to reach that sweet spot. The Tone Masters lose that problem. Plus they are easy to carry as so light. And the with "attenuator" function they give that full sound bit at low bedroom level volumes.
The other issue is reliability or longevity. Well, that remains to be seen. We shall have to see how we go. I will add I have Yamaha FX500 digital effects unit that I still use for certain things as its great. I was forewarned by the sales assistant that the battery might last "about 5 years" but its still going strong. Oh, by the way, I bought my digital FX500 with its still working original battery back in 1989! The Tone Masters don't even have a battery either…. so…. well we shall see.
PS – Have to add the Boss Katanas are superb too, especially for the money. Any beginners wanting to take that next step up to a half decent amp from the 5w thing they got in the Blaster Pack they got for Chrimbo? No brainer.
In the past 30 years I've not had good luck with Fender amps.
this channel is top shelf in pretty much all fields …. Thanks !
I still have my Mustang III v2 after my Mustang III v1 drove me crazy. Rob from Pahrump
I've played Boss katanas since the mk1s came out. I moved up to the mk2's and stopped there. The version 3 sounds cheap by comparison so I stopped at mk2 100 and 50 combos
I got a Tonex for Christmas this year and I am blown away from the tones you can get out of this thing. If you haven’t had the chance definitely check it out.
Wow Shane is out of shape. Catch yoir breath buddy.
I like you Shane but saying this about the mustang is ridiculous. I have the 150 watt one and it is horrible.
The mustang 3 I've had for years. Bought it when I lived in Alaska. When they were new on the market. I own two of them. They are built like tanks. They sound great. they are very loud as well.
I have a 1st generation peavey vypyr 30 that sounds good imo
I like my Fender GT100 and GTX100 for 1 main reason, I can use it as a Bluetooth speaker and play along to the music at the same time. If Boss would ever make a Katana with this capability, I would be the 1st on the waiting list to get one. The Fender GTX100 is great for beginners.
Best modeler made was line 6 spider jam 75 but thats just my opinion. Every other line 6 amp sucks
Hi Shane, Have you ever tried the old (Johnson Millennium stereo 150)?? from early 2000’s I still have one (too loud for home but crazy good sound)
Great video venue! Love seeing the Eucalyptus trees! Good on ya! I've had several modellers as well over the years and my current favourite is tha Vypyr VIP 1. It's about a decade old now and still functioning as built. I love the Voxes. I had a love hate relationship with my Line 6s and Rolands. I play the Vypyr every day. Love the Budda clean and the Twin OD amongst others. Great inexpensive amp!
Fender Mustang GTX 100?
Was there ever an analogue modelling amplifier?
