Enjoy
Great guitars, I had one for about six months and it was a great lighter weight version of my '71 Les Paul. But the neck was too fat and I couldn't get the action as low as my Gibsons because of the fingerboard radius so I sold it. (Incidentally I also had to sent one back; the frets were completely ignored before leaving the factory which wouldn't have seen the light of day if I'd bought it from Sweetwater.) Mine was Vintage Sunburst, so well done it looked like a nitro finish from Gibson, none of this "1/4 inch of glass" business you usually get from Asian guitars. This also means I could see the wood; the body was only three piece instead of the typical five pieces of an Epiphone or similar guitar, and the three pieces in the neck being laminated lengthwise (like 70s Gibsons) is far more acceptable to me and much nicer looking than the headstock and heel being glued on, which to me screams "cheap guitar", even though PRS does that on the S2 models. Fantastic guitar overall but the pickups were the star of the show here; they sound NICE! Clear without being stratty, strong in all frequencies. Not high or low output, just beautiful humbucker tone. I've never played a '58 thru '60 Les Paul, but this is how people who use them describe them. I probably won't get another one but I still recommend it it's a great guitar.
Got mine, a double cut, this color. Man I can tell you: the best guitar I´ve ever played. The feel is great, the pickups go with many music styles and as your learn how to use the controls you can rock the sh1t out of the guitar.
I played this guitar and it is an incredible tone guitar so many tones you can pull out of this guitar…I found its tone warm and every pickup choice is usable a brilliant guitar!!!!
I dont call myself a guitar player but been learning guitar for a bit. Ive been playing for over 20yrs and started getting into guitar again. I played guitar for a bit over 15yrs ago only because our guitar player never showed up lol! Today I was at GC and played a $600 PRS SE and a $3000 Gibson. I expected to be blown away by the Gibson but I wasnt. I was pretty impressed by the color more than anything. But out of the 2 I would choose the PRS. To me I didnt see much in playability and the Gibson didnt feel that much of a difference from the PRS. The Gibson guitar was nice but not $3000 nice! Im diggin the PRS. Im playing an Eart 3SG right now but thinking about the PRS SE next!????
1 year later I have this guitar it's terrible, does not hold tuning intonation is off, fretboard dead spots, pickup switching issues the list goes on
Gotta say I love my se 594 McCarty, I’m a fender tele player , have a couple other fenders, have been looking at a couple Gibson Les Paul and epiphone Les Paul, went to guitar center and played a bunch of them, then tried the 594 se , s2 and core, for my purposes the se was my favorite choice, ,was there a difference ? Probably so but not enough to justify a $2500 plus dollar difference, , so sweetwater it was for the se single cut , and honestly I took a shot by not having it setup, out of the box the guitar was set up perfectly for me, fret edges action every aspect was amazing, PRS got it right, Gibson is a great guitar, but look out PRs got you on this one
I've owned dozens of guitars looking for the one. My wife called Sweetwater for Christmas and they hooked her/me up with this exact guitar. For me- It's the best guitar I've ever played. Absolutely better playing and sounding than any other single cut I've experienced! Mind blowing… Reminder to most people that don't use the knobs- Back the tone knobs off a bit to get rid of any quacky tones and you're off to the races!
Sound like an epiphone to me, need to replace the PUs. Gibson 57 and 57+ and probably u gonna have an amazing guitar
Coil Tapped? OR Split Coil?
I just traded my PRs Se dgt for the Se McCarty 594. The dgt was a gorgeous guitar but I found the pickups a little too bright and biting for me. Dug the 594 a little more
Just ordered one today!
I have a hard time believing less than 1/8" shorter scale length would be noticeable as far as bending ease, the frets could be more polished….
Darrell's statement about scale length and string feel is very misleading. String gauge can get you the tension that you want. It's not some law that you are stuck with 10-46. Sorry Darrell. I know that you know this. Just a personal quirk of this old man. I ordered my PRS SE SC 594 yesterday. I have a 2004 Core "McCarty" DC, which I have never bonded with.

Blanca Mill
I took a 0000 steel wool to the back of the necks to remove some of the lacquer… smooths it right on out.

If they made this guitar with a deep cherry sunburst, they'd hit it out of the park.
How can u order from Sweetwater from Canada?
Really outstanding. This looks like the "black gold" color.
I have this exact guitar. It’s extremely easy to play. And it’s light….my fender strat weighs more. The neck is a little thick but I’ve adjusted.
Is it the best PRS SE? Well for me that's a choice between this model and the DGT SE. Honestly I couldn't decide so I bought both
If it had a hollow body I would buy it immediately. The weight 7.78 lbs = 3.5 kg is rather heavy for me.
If it had a semi-hollow body I would buy it immediately. The weight 7.78 lbs = 3.5 Kg is rather heavy for me.
2:40 I believe the scale length is attributed to later measurements of some of the early LPs that turned out to be 24.594" rather than the advertised 24.75" spec due to manufacturing tolerances of that era. Great demo, Darrell!
Hard to beat PRS SE under $1000. I have the Customer 24-08 and it is an amazing guitar. Probably the best guitar out of the box I have bought.
I am in the works of saving up for this guitar right now. Keep the vibes high and remember to do something today that you can thank yourself for tomorrow!
What’s the difference between this and the SE 245?
Darrel did you set it up first before doing the demo?
PRS guitars in my humble opinion suck so bad that I have stopped taking them in for setups and repairs at my shop. They are just cheap as they come. Finish, hardware, electronics, bridges, tuners, truss rod adjustments and truss rod covers. I hope I never see another one ever again. And don't go there because I have seen all models and all SUCK!!!!!!!!!! Sorry!
You demo guys always forget about fingerstyle. Would be nice to hear some clean tones played with fingers.
