The Best Small Bass Amp Ever?!

As the build of my new home studio continues, I’m trying to make the most of the space by setting up one of the most effective and compact practice amps I’ve ever owned.

The Ampeg Venture series V3 head with the 210 cabinet is proving to be both small and mighty.

I’m also unboxing the V7 amp which will now be my main touring head with a bunch more headroom for bigger gigs.

  • Love your videos, Janek! Along with your excellent playing, explanations, and advice, I also appreciate the lovely cinematic appearance you achieve in your videos and I'm wondering how you do so. If you wouldn't mind sharing, it would be great to learn which device(s) you use for filming. Thanks! 🙂

  • Playing bars and clubs (80s/rock/punk) do you think the V3 and 210 is powerful enough or should I get a V7 with the 410 to make sure I have enough . Thanks.

  • Janek. Does the V7 have too many watts for the Ampeg Venture 210? I have read that the v7 is too much for the 210. I am thinking of buying both but I don’t want to over power the 210.

  • My mom bought one kislux and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.

  • Does this new venture Ampeg speaker have quicker response than the classic?

That was always my issue with my Ampeg. Otherwise I loved the tone…

  • I’m with you. I have nice studio monitors and a good wireless iem setup, but even at low volume, you can’t beat that amp in the room feeling for guitar or bass.

  • Love hearing you on different gear! It’s cool to see the slight changes amp/speakers make.

I’ve been fighting to love my sound lately. Would love for you to go through your process of EQing (for live performance) sometime. That’s one thing I still struggle with.

  • I used the SVT 300 Watt head (all tubes, power and pre) on the road for 21 years along with a HLF 4×10 cabinet. There’s just nothing like Ampeg.
Occasionally I would get an Aguilar rig for backline, and they’re just so sterile in comparison.

  • How do you transport your bass when you travel..do you check that along with your amps and accessories? Thanks for the great video.

  • Aguilar is nice but your tone has been much warmer and phatter sounding in the videos lately.
There’s just something about that ampeg sound.

  • I had a V12 for a short time. The tone was incredible but the overall volume output was disappointing. I stuck with my Hartke TX600.

  • Sounds fucking amazing! Just a question, could i get the name of that first tune you put in the video… sounds amazing.

  • I’ve been looking to move back to Ampeg for years but never really acted on it. I may just go for the V3 and a 2×10 to replace my current TC Electronic combo. I miss the Ampeg coloration and, sir, just made me miss it a little bit more 🙂
