  • If they're on country radio these days there's about a 100% chance it's not country …morgan and the rest of them rappers is a disgrace to country ppl

  • We are devolving as humans and people are now stimulated by beats and tones rather than actual music. Auto tune is a scourge on all music.

  • Justin there are many great musicians, especially on guitar in Twangville, but to me all of today's male country singers sound alike, cookie cutter productions with few exceptions. And have you noticed how they all seem to have similar expansive 20 something histories? "Did you know Johnny X lived in an old cabin with no running water or heat, on his granddaddy's farm before coming to Nashville? He lived there all one summer."

  • 1:22 Your comment about lightening up the hand and then your follow-up to digging in reminds me of a T-shirt:

Telecaster – Goes From Clean to Yee-Haw!!!

  • All music is being too controlled and formed into this perfect 3: minute song that is controlled to make everyone happy!?!? Sad as it destroys the creativity!!!

  • Real country music is definitely out there. It’s just not based in Nashville.

  • #3 (Morgan Wallen) intro has that Gerry Rafferty 'Right Down The Line' (& some Dire Straights) vibe.

  • I heard cowboy songs a long while ago, had never heard of George before. Cool to see it hit number 1. I didn’t realize it was that popular. Also excellent guitar playing my guy!

  • As a sidenote, the level of musicianship that plays on these really bad nursery rhyme songs for the most part is what makes them palatable. These guys like you, uncle Larry, and others who actually make these songs listenable. The parts you create the arrangements, etc. And alsothe recording engineers that makes and master these tunes. That’s the only reason anybody listens to them. I’m telling you right now.

  • It’s music probably made mostly with mostly written by AI that sounds like a fucking nursery rhyme.. also the industry tends to sign the least talented monotone sounding dorky looking fake country boys. Not the real talent of people who can actually sing play and write . I saw it when I lived there. I blew out of there in disgust. That place is a joke. Not the behind-the-scenes musicians, but anybody successful and famous.

  • We were signed to Jason Aldeans label Broken Bow. 2008. I was done with country music 2019. It's so bad. I even own a recording studio, produce, engineer and play sessions. It's so cringe with hip hop beats in everything you do now. I throw up my hands. No talent anymore is the problem. We need Bret Mason back. My 2 cents

  • Take a look at the songwriter credits on some of the "country" hits these days. 4 or 5 writers to come up with one awful tune is fairly common.

  • I was in country radio during the 70s and 80s. I listened to country musuc for 5 hours a night 6 days a week for 2 decades. The 70s and 80s was a great time for country music. Country Music in 2025 still sounds country. The music is fine. The musicians are great but the lyrics are the problem. Just like pop music has a formula for hit songs so does country music. They are churning out hits as fast as possible to make money! The songs lyricly are shallow.. They throw in pick up trucks..beer..drinking..raising hell in most of the songs today. Redneck stereotypes are used over and over in modern country. The story telling and deep soul touching lyrics are gone. I think the main reason is they are following a hit record formula on most song written today. Its not the tempo..the musical arrangement..the beat or anything else. The repetitve use of the same themes..beer trucks..partying..raising hell is the problem. Better lyrics will make people respect new country way more.

  • Too many woke types are leading record labels. I have no idea how they got to be in their positions.

  • Every time I hear “Boys back home”, and they get to that line “trucks circled up around a fart fire”.

    I said what I said.

  • Love your perspective on current country and the ability to appreciate the different nuances. It gets tiresome hearing people rag on new country all the time.
